In fairness I understand there was a mixup with the delivery of new jumpers from the manufacturer with some numbers missing. A bit harsh to blame the club.
The Colts list had two #17s. Perhaps a printer's error.
The club is copping it from multi directions including you and me DD. Maybe we should cut them some slack on some matters. Let's not kick the horse too hard when it is down.

Smokey do you know why there was a mix up with the correct jumpers not being ready for round 1. Did the club place the order correctly , allow enough time to rectify in case there was a problem? These type of situations although seemingly minor in nature also reflect on the professionalism of the club.

Good to see an injury update posted on the clubs website, hopefully it updated weekly during the season. Unfortunate to see 3 players out suspended, definitely not what we need. I thought Billings was goneski if he copped another suspension?

Yes AFL i was there and gave a match report.

I do see on wafl online that wally was mentioned in the Ressies - but maybe he played both - i know that isn't done anymore but I saw someone out there during the league game wearing his number and he looked very ordinary.

Can anyone else say they saw him in the league. I didn't go to the resizes so I would be surprised if I got this wrong. Not amazed but surprised. There were a lot of faces and numbers to get use to no doubt.

Both Walley's played in the reserves. Marty Walley wears 39 while Cal Walley wears 56.

You are right though TFAF that Tanner was wearing 56 during the league game and that he was listed as 52 in the budget while for some reason Cal Walley was wearing 57 and listed as 56 in the budget.

According to the Perth website last week Tanner is 52 and Cal Walley is 56.

Come on Worm Burner. Cut the club some slack.
I don't know the actual circumstances so you can write a work of fiction in any number of scenarios.
We are copping it from so many directions both internally and from outside the club. I am critical myself on several fronts but lets not just fabricate things like the Canberra Press Gallery. Lets work on facts and remember that the individuals within the club are human and also volunteers who give their own time and effort for the club.
Not good enough???? Well where are the people stepping up and saying they can do better and are willing and able to do the work. Things don't just happen, there is a lot of work in running the club and putting a side out there every Saturday.

I have supported the club for 60+ years including 50 years as a member and I have not previously seen the club in such a humiliating position and I don't like it. And, yes, we have to get our act together pretty smartly or the consequences will be unpalatable.

Also doesn't look good when staff are wearing old club shirts that still have the Browne's logo on them.

It's little things like this that make the club look even more unprofessional.

Growler wrote: It seemed to be a weekend of blow-outs and average performances by teams with higher expectations

That's not to take away from the opponents because they showed exactly why they deserved their wins on the day and great play be them all

I say this as I am sure that Perth will bring greater intensity and play to their games as the year unfolds
While I know its been a long hard slog and not the easiest of times for the Perth team and especially supporters, it is the last point that needs to be made
Perth supporters need to stick with their team, to show the younger ones that they have loyal followers and vocal positive supporters
It means so much to players to have the crowds applaud their efforts and to congratulate their on field performances, even when they lose, its a spirit lift to have the supporters atleast clap them off when they have done their best.

I understand that and agree. But sometimes you have to ask have they? We have witnessed a lot over the last 38 years and that first up performance was deplorable.

Wow 50 years a member Smokey, fantastic achievement. I know that all WAFL clubs have their rusted on members and every club has been where Perth are now at some stage. Perhaps most for not as long but it can be turned around. You may remember in 2002, Swans nearly closed their doors due to financial difficulties and they only won 1 league game that whole year. Yet a few years later we made the finals and this led up to a premiership in 2010. I think it probably needs a strong team of administrators to make hard decisions and tackle a losing culture head on. Easier said than done I know. At least Perth has a much better financial situation than some other clubs.

This was a quote from Earl on the website last week.

"It’s been a challenging and long preseason. It has been challenging in terms of trying to recruit players to the club. We tried to get some quality talls in and unfortunately that hasn’t been the case this year but we will keep persisting."

Supporting Perth, quite often I look back at some of the decisions that the club make or players at the club make and wonder what might have been. Some players get moved on and others leave themselves.

Maybe if things had have been different here and there our team could have looked like this last week.

Aaron Zucconi, Jared Risol, Jarryd Morton

Michael Sinclair, Ash Thornton, Matt Tedesco

Ali Smith, Brendan Jones, Aaron Elari

Matthew Rogers, Matthew Ferguson, Jarrod Kayler-Thomson

Brennan Stack, Paul Bevan, Mitch Morton

Craig Shaw, Ross Young, Brett Hodge

Chance Bateman, Aidan Tropiano, Dene White, Christian Eyres.

Billings, Irons, Collard, Edmonds, Kalazic and Chance to come into our squad.

I hope Billings suspension was a carry over from last year!

Mr AFL

I would have White before Jones nowadays for sure.

Zucconi annoyed me as he didn't seem to hate the losses enough for mine.

JKT retired. I don't know Ferguson, Shaw or Thornton.

Hodge unlucky with the particular bone he injured. It doesn't get any blood flow.

I reckon we could still miss Donovan and I thought Houghton looked better that a few of ours on Sat.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!
