The club needs to step into the modern football area and stop living off 'glory days' of a by gone era. Don't get wrong its great having hall of fame functions and recognizing past achievements but we need some new champions and need some new success in the club. The primary factor should be NO ACCEPTANCE OF POOR PERFORMANCE and I don't mean on the field. This club needs some new, young and energetic football minds who can take this club forward.
I AM FKN SICK AND TIRED OF BEING SICK AND TIRED OF THIS FOOTY CLUB!!!!

I don't want harp on again about the board elections last year but these guys need to understand that no matter how much they love the club they are actually killing it one game and one season at a time. I thought Marty was going to be the guy to do it but I get the impression he is now aligned with the 'ol well we tried hard better luck next year' brigade and is in real trouble of falling nicely into this underperforming old boys club!

The reality is the seasons fkd before its even started and this is because the same people who have resided over similar performances are still there churning out their same management styles on an organization that is sick to its core.

As members we are shareholders in this company via way of a membership and our sponsorships. If my investments are not getting a return or are loosing shedloads year in and year out I want to ask some real questions of those people who are running it! As members we deserve better than this and quite frankly I don't think anyone in charge of this company knows what the fuck to do next. Just look at our recruiting this year. They must just sitting in the lounge passing the hat around saying so 'does anyone have any ideas'?

When will those in charge accept defeat and pass on the baton? When will we have a club that is presided over by modern football minded business people rather than 'Pfc lovers'.

The love affair is over boys. You may love us but we don't love you. Time to go our separate and find someone else to love because this relationship is killing us all...................

I got there just as the ressies started in the third quarter. What I saw in the last half of the ressies didnt inspire me too much. We got some junk goals in the last when the game was all over but the standard was terrible. Then the league started and I thought I was still watching our reserves play. We really have nothing. The 2 Morton's, Tropiano and White is about all we can talk about with one or two others worth a mention.

My beef is the lack of recruiting and the type of player we did recruit. This type of non recruiting is what clubs that are bankrupt do yet we are not in that position. Why didnt we try to get a good VFL player or some of the very good Vic country guys or some of the returning AFL delists? Nope, we went for some duds from other bottom teams.

I remember a season in some of our darkest years when we would regularly get belted by 20 goals with players like Beasley kicking 13 goals and scoring more than our whole team and I feel we may be in for another of those. On paper, the Swans team looked only slightly better than ours. WTF is going to happen when we play East Freo, Subiaco, Claremont etc? I didnt see the colts but I heard we were very ordinary in that also. Nope this season could see us slide into oblivion. Sure we can blame McMahon but WTF did our recruiting team do over the summer?

Swanky it is difficult to gauge only on one game. I think that some critics may have underestimated how well Swans will go this year. As you would have seen we have some promising young guys and a mix of the older more experienced guys. Similarly, our colts' team should have another good year.

Good overview Lucifer. You are right about the Board. We had an excellent opportunity last Board election to inject new blood but what has become a boys' club managed to get themselves re-elected and possibly the best qualified football administrator in WA football was overlooked.
We have lacked the right people within the club to govern it. Yes, it is time to get the right people involved but there just is nobody willing or able to step up.
We certainly cannot blame the players or the new coach. Not enough resources have been given to developing a new regime off field and a new and vibrant era of infield success.
I grieve at what has become of our great club and what we have allowed to happen to it.

Herein lies the hub of the problem. Who do you think was in charge in "recruiting" over the summer in the absence of a football manager??

Surely the coach also has a big say in recruiting???

The thing that gets me is here we have to former Premiership players, the CEO and the Senior coach, one a premiership ruckman the other a premiership tall KPP and we end up recruiting predominantly smalls.

Marty was supposed to be the next best thing that took this club places.

Yes AFL i was there and gave a match report.

I do see on wafl online that wally was mentioned in the Ressies - but maybe he played both - i know that isn't done anymore but I saw someone out there during the league game wearing his number and he looked very ordinary.

Can anyone else say they saw him in the league. I didn't go to the resizes so I would be surprised if I got this wrong. Not amazed but surprised. There were a lot of faces and numbers to get use to no doubt.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

You have got to be joking? Maybe you were off getting your face painted or playing on the bouncy castle while the game was on. The guy wearing No. 56 yesterday was HAYDEN TANNER and if you reckon he was average then what would you say the rest of them were like?? He played better than most, has a good kick on him, runs in straight lines and gets the ball.

His game, that of Sinclair in the middle and Jacob Payne's effort were about the only positives from what was a horrific performance yesterday.
