Well your two big recruits Latch and Wolfenden suggest somebody in your football department wishes you to stay on the bottom.

Latch got some games in our back 6 when we had injuries but didn't set the world on fire and Wolfy while he has the heart/passion of a lion he gets knocked off the ball far to easily due to his size.

If your going to not win many matches and sit down the bottom make it count. Give your colts a crack in the league side and blood em. You still finish near the bottom but you soon see if your kids will develop.

I don't know about board members etc, but I do know that it was reasons other than those mentioned on here that we made a significant profit last year. My point was that we are getting some things right. What I'm tired of reading is the constant negative posts about EVERYTHING. I'm also tired of the lack of discussion about footy - beside we need 65 ex-AFL recruits, this guy we recruited is no good, etc.

I'll try again. I think that we will come up looking better come round 1 than round 1 last season. I see, too, that ES has mentioned a couple of boys are training with us from the amateurs. Before I get, "we don't need amateurs", I'd like to remind people that one amateur we recruited in recent years was a guy who could play a bit, Tendai Muzungu. ES rates one of the guys as the best under-23 amateur out there. The other he rates highly, too. He also mentioned that he's not interested in recruiting players simply for depth.

I know it's boring to point out but Moody and Bevan retired.

Didn't Latch play in 16 or 17 league games last year for you guys?! That suggests something more than "some" and that he "filled in".

Suggest you have another look at the books.
The compensation was over $100k without we probably were in the red.
Didn't you notice the drop off in attendance from the Lathlain room.
Better view from outside you know.
Even the Swanny boys reckon Latch has a lot to learn.
Risol was good but he didn't have support.
"We are getting some things right", you must be the football director then.
Head in the sand.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!

It was said at the AGM that the profit came from 1) the dividend paid to the club for the alignment and 2) reduced total player payments over the season resulting from injuries to senior players who were on a good quid (e.g. Cale Morton).

I'm interested in seeing if some of the youngsters we've got out there can take the step up. We've been bloody hopeless at transitioning kids from colts to league for yonks. I've been watching a few of these guys at training like Scott Doncon, Sam Garstone, Daniel Arangio and they're the blokes I want to see step up and become good league players this season.

I tell you something else I've notice watching training - they are doing a lot more stoppage and contested ball work then they ever did under McMahon.

Well thats good that you are setting high standards, didnt we flog Claremont by about 10 goals first up last season?
One of our very rare wins arainst that mob?
So if we are looking better round 1 this season compared to last season then we should be in for a very big year!

Amateurs as i have stated before have a low success rate at our club and its nice you quote Tendai but the failures have been aplenty, this source of recruiting hasnt been a happy hunting ground for this club, hopefullly this amateur Spalding talks about can live up to it.

I wonder if we were on the cusp of big things ie. a flag whether some of these guys over the journey would be retiring as early?

I reckon when in the last 5 years you have 2 wooden spoons an a 8th place finish and 2 at finishing 6th then posts will lean towards the negative, there have also been the odd off-field decision that havent helped the cause.

Dazz there are a few players I will be interested in seeing take a further step up to ressies and even league....
Browne - showed plenty of promise when given the chance. A real goer.
Leggett - likewise looks a goer
Rose - a man mountain already and can play.
Chester -
Edmonds - a talented player. Can step up if he is getting into the gym to build up his body.
Garlett - has the talent if he can commit to becoming a league player
Power - a little older and showed plenty in 2014. I believe that he has a bit more upside.

And there may be one or two more to come up from the Colts - eg the Phillips brothers.

Only time will tell but we must get the transitional system working at optimal level.

I too am looking forward to seeing how some of these younger players go in 2015. All those you mentioned smokey hopefully will see league football this year. Edmonds is an interesting player. Back to back B&F's in the colts and reserves but as we know is very light on. Really impressed with Browney. Thought he was one of our best against Claremont at the Showgrounds late in the year.

Thought Kayle Phillips showed the most out of the brothers last year but is still yet to turn 18 so will have to see how he goes in the reserves first.

Hayden Tanner is another who improved as the year went on and managed to play three reserve games. Is a decent size and another preseason should do him the world of good.

Damian Wright is another who didn't have a problem finding the football at colts level in 2014 and could be one to watch early in 2015.

Yes Mr AFL, Tanner did show quite a bit in his 17 games of colts and ressies during 2014. Averaged 19 disposals and 5 marks per goal. Tidy stats. He does have some upside and another to watch if he steps up.

I meant per game NOT per goal.
