Unfortunately, for these types, it's just not the case. Of course, it's much easier to sit behind a computer and shoot off bullets marked "Perth is hopeless," "McMahon is a dud," the Board is useless and actively working to undermine onfield performance", etc. But then the awkward facts emerge - the player leaves because he's offered a house and a car and a job, Claremont hires McMahon, and the club makes a profit almost better than last year's premiers. So not everything is rotten in the state of Denmark after all.

This is not to say that things can't be improved and that coaches shouldn't be sacked and that the board shouldn't be watched closely to make sure it's doing the right thing etc. It's just to say that we are not beyond redemption as is often implied. And, if I got it wrong, and Ugle is leaving because he doesn't like the new training regime that's a pretty big judgement on the guy's character.

Anyway...I think that - overall - we will be slightly ahead re: losses and gains, though that's dependent on a few things turning out our way. First, if Wolfenden can recapture his premiership form then he's a straight replacement for Bevan. I might say if he does then he could potentially have a bigger impact than Bevan. The good thing about Woolfenden is that he turned up asking for a game which suggests he wants to play and he wants to play for us. He's also a good deal younger than Bevan. Second, Latch is probably as good a replacement as we could get for Risol. He's got a fair bit to go to prove he's better than Risol, but he's young, and he's entering his second season as a regular WAFL player. Third, and this is a punt, we have to hope that either Gartlett or Austin or one of the players (other than the ex-AFL guy) we get from Peel, can match Ugle's influence. This is a big IF since Ugle was in our top six players from last year. On the upside, though, is that we should get more from Hodge this year. A fit Hodge, I think, will more than make up for the loss of Ugle. Fourth, if it comes off that we get the ex-AFLer from Peel then I think he more than compensate for the loss of Moody. Fifth, there is still the hope - genuine though nothing is proven until they run out in the red and black - that we might get one more quality recruit. I know little about this, other than that we are talking to someone. Who he is I don't know, but he's supposed to be someone that would fit straight into our best 18. Last, I don't really count Busher and Houghton as loses. Mostly because these guys only showed promise and not much else, no matter injury problems etc. Cale Morton didn't do much for us, so he might not be considered a loss either, except on the profit/loss ledger.

Final thing: as I understand it, when you negotiate a transfer of players like in the Ugle case, then one or two things happen. Peel tell us which players they want to give away, we tell them who we want as a replacement (like Ugle finished sixth in our best and fairest so we need something similar etc), and then we have to talk to the player/players to see if they want to play for us. It's not a matter of moving chess pieces on a chess board. So we will wait and see.

I stopped reading this load of crap when you said wolffendon was a straight swap for Bevan.

another thought out post from pn. I see you had to edit it as well Pete. Fair dinkum a guy puts up a large thought out post and you as usual criticise it with a one liner.

You might want to edit your post , sentences star with capital letters.

Did Wolfenden kick 50 goals in his premiership year?......I admire the fellas fiesty get up and go but I'm pretty sure Wolfie is light years behind Bevan in terms of ability, experience and leadership....actually 120 odd AFL games and an AFL premiership behind TBH.....Bevan is a huge loss as is Moody, those two boys always made most EF fans uneasy on P v EF match day...

..if Wolfenden can step up for Perth than that will certainly be a bonus.......like for like for Bevan is definitely pushing the boat out though......if he kicks 25 - 30 off a wing I reckon he will be over achieving.........reckon Brendan Jones would be a better bet......but then again we all know the history there eh?

Did Bevan get dropped to the Ressies in his time at Lathlain Park as Wolfy did with us in 2011?
Dont get me wrong PD I loved Wolfy's never say die attitude but his best footy with us was in 08-09 not in our Premiership year of 2010 & definitely not in 2011 when he was dropped to the Ressies for a stint!
That aside I wish both him, Latch & the Dees all the best in 2015.

The club has run out of time and excuses for this supporter :(

So why are you still here?

Clown, out of time and excuses means a top 4 finish in 2015.

And because you have your head that far up your backside and so you wont be blindsided i can tell you that if by round 6 the status quo is the norm and we are sitting bottom of the ladder just watch how much our numbers will drop off at games and not to mention the ammount of supporters that will be sitting back holding off on paying membership to see what sort of season looks likely.

Your that arrogant your response to this will be "the PFC dont need your support"!!

30+ there will be no significant change until there are significant changes on the board.
Unfortunately there are no football savvy alternatives available to us.
The Club will continue to stagnate and this punter has also run out of patience.
I would have thought PD would have seen the fall off in attendance last year (being so close to the Club).
As admitted at the AGM had alignment compensation not come through we may well have been in the red.
Excuses, excuses for the bad management of the Club, we need a football savvy Director of Football and that's starting point!!!!
The whole preseason has been bungled right from the start.

DF, we had the chance to elect two new Directors recently but the members who voted decided to return retiring Directors. Opportunity for change sadly lost. Perhaps last chance.
A "boys club" syndrome remains.

We finally had an election after 10 years!!!
We finally had a candidate that had years and years of experience and was obviously highly regarded by powers much wiser than me.
Don't start me thinking about the reason she polled poorly.
She should have been embraced, anyone with that pedigree should be on the board in place of some of the current directors.
Streets ahead of most of them.

As for the bungling of the preseason, don't get me started.

This is one punter thinking seriously about membership particularly given my circumstances.

PN I have always tried to remain positive rather than criticize the Club.
I can assure you I have taken a lot of shit over the years particularly from my Subi mates.
But the bungling is getting worse.
When you have certain Directors thinking they are doing a marvelous job when they are bungling.
We all know who the first Director is that should go.
At least step into another role for the sake of the Club.
The club is in the ****.
Not from falling over because of finances but they will continue to be win regular wooden spoons.
Until they sell their souls, which I am thinking they have already done.
My bet is Bronte is going to be a very disappointed man.
