The couple of players in return we get i guarentee will be average footballers.

We will be the big losers in the Ugle trade!!

We had the weakest backline in the comp last season,is an inexperienced Latch all we have added, another area thus far that has not been strengthened in any way shape or form...ditto for the forward line.
Unfortunately Mr AFL the players that you list as doing ok pre-season none are KPP's the one area this club has been and still is very weak in.

I would love him to stay 30 plus but Peel have made him an offer that is too good to refuse. He would have to be one of the highest paid players (excluding Fremantle players haha) if he takes up there deal. If what I have heard correctly then this deal includes accommodation for him and his young family and a job. I suppose that Gerald is only doing what he thinks is on the best interests of himself and his family. Whilst I'm not happy with the decision I can't begrudge anyone of doing that.

IMO if we were a team in the top 2 or 3 then a good offer may be all thats needed to keep players at Perth instead of trying to match or better the offers like the one Peel have made him.
Unfortunately theres not a great incentive for players to want to stay if you have to pitch to them how good we are!

Money within our salary cap is not a worry as i see it with the players that have left the club some being at the top end of good contracts i would have thought and the fact that we havent gone out recruiting hard spending big bucks.
We at least have room to move when making a player an offer.

With respect people - to those making the comments on here about Ugle staying or going - do we really need to worry! - he is not that good, handy at best IMO, and is not going to be the difference between us winning or losing. Whilst I enjoy the views expressed via this forum, I get somewhat worried by some of the comments that may be coming from people who are no closer to the action than the bar!! Don't blame the current Coach, board, CEO etc - we will run out with the best 22 we can and if that's not good enough, which I suspect it won't be, then we just have to suck it up, as we have done for many past years. As I've said before, the redevelopment of Lathlain and the move by the Eagles there etc may very well be a highly calculated bid by the WAFL and others for the beginning of the end of the once almighty D's

There's a rumour over on the Subiaco Thread that George Hampson and Jarred Schofield have had a falling out and that George may be on his way to the Demons. Not sure what to make of it but if we were to get George that would be a good get.

Now for a tall forward, tall back and another ruckman :)

Hey Pitchfork no-ones blaming the coach but the board and the CEO who run the club and make the decisions should be held accountable for a wooden spoon year if they arent who should??

The difference between us winning and losing is the experienced tall KP'S at each end of the ground that we dont have!

Recruiting who's responsible for that??

Ugle is a young talent who will only get better and we wont get to see it at Perth.

In regards to us and any alignment the President of our club as i see it is the one pushing for it,along with others.

Mr AFL,George Hampson would be a good get if he comes to Perth!

And if it does, when do you think it might happen 30+ and who are the others because I reckon there are a lot of East Perth supporters out there hoping that you are right.

It will happen after the current deal expires. The President seems to have changed his tune over the last 12 months from a defiant no, to that is 2-3 years away and we might have a new board then etc etc....

TBH, no one will challenge the President if and when he comes up for renewal. He has had a big part in the redevelopment of Lathlain Park and I see him staying on as President until that is completely finished which should be by the end of the 2019 season.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a rule where you can only serve so long as Club President?

Vince can serve as long he likes as long he wins the presidential election every 2 years.
The Clubs soul has been sold for the funding.
That's why there was no real election.

Do you really think it will last that long? I know that West Coast have said that the alignment will last the full term, but we all know that whatever WA's AFL Clubs want they get. (Apart from their Reserves as stand-alone teams in the WAFL.) All they have to say to the WAFC is "jump" and the WAFC will say "how high?"

And to be honest it would have to be against their own interests to be aligned to one WAFL Club on the other side of the metro area while co-habiting with another at Lathlain Park.

And with Perth's current situation, wouldn't they (the Board, probably not the Members and supporters, I would think) want it to happen sooner?

OTO I think that the current alignment ends in 2017. The Eagles aren't scheduled to move into their new head quarters until the end of the 2017 season and of course before preseason starts in November that year aswell.

While the Eagles are at Subiaco I can see the alignment staying for the full five years and then if their is a change of alignment clubs then it will be at the end of 2017.
