Mr AFL,

I don't think that it is fitness, nor game plan or an ability to carry it out.

From the snippets of information that circle around the halls at leederville comments abt issues with cliques and players not buying into the club are mentioned.

These are rumours and inuendoes, I know, but when you hear it from players who still have friendships or mateships ex players or even ones from their junior days it seems to be worthy of some credence. It can also be their own issues.

Players have a history of making and breaking coaches and seasons with their petulance and attitudes. This is an area in any club that is one that constantly needs to be monitored and managed, perhaps the previous coach could not do it or even more scary did not know.

I Can't confirm if that was me or not but I doubt it. I have it from a reliable source Dean has applied, I don't stand to gain anything from that just thought the Perth guys might like to know. Very aggressive type you are DD.

They don't get the experience they need full time at a footy club coaching, and they need to find other interests to supplement their income.....which takes their mind off coaching

I believe McDud was full time on 70k plus a car.

You got that right PH. But he was their golden child and they didn't spare the horses when it came to recruiting for this bloke either. Unlike Jarman's last year when they locked the safe and threw away the key.

The ONLY full time coaches at WAFL level are Steve Malaxos at East Fremantle and Greg Harding at Swan Districts.

I don't know if he was on 70k but he wasn't a full time coach. Put in the hours of a full time coach though just without the results.

I have heard that the coaching position was readvertised as the 'panel' were not happy with the original group of applicants....not sure how true this is, but seems to make sense seeing that the position originally closed on the Saturday after Souths and now it doesn't close until mid-September.

So what all this means is we wont have a coach in place before the end of the WAFL season....like they said we would.

Why didnt (as a back up) this panel put a short-list of names forward a month ago and the club go out and try and get "there man" as well as go through the normal chanels of advertising???

This puts us behind the 8 ball as far as recuiting goes, attracting assistant coaches before they get other gigs etc...
Not ideal.....Once again!!!

You would have to wonder then if guys like Micale (not my choice) were even original applicants.
Gee i'd love to know who the 15 applicants were, obviously they weren't real flash.

Agree it is frustrating but I would rather they take more time than appointment someone just for the sake of having someone in place before the season is over. I am as disappointed as anyone that we haven't signed up a quality coach yet but I guess we have to cool our heels for a while and keep our fingers and toes crossed they make the right appointment.
