Certainly the list of experienced coaches is dwindling.
I was against a rookie coach but if the more senior guys are not applying or not suitable then you have to look at the rookie.
Guerra woulnt be the worst choice,he certainly has been there and done that as a player under one of the best coaches going around.

As has Kris Miller apparently ...

I actually met him along with Luke Hodge and wives in New York late last year...really friendly guy who doesn't seem up himself. Could be a good choice.

Perth desperately needs a coach with a proven football pedigree and profile and the ability to attract - and retain - players. His coaching credentials might be untested but you'd expect his networks in the AFL and SA where he's also played could prove valuable to filling the gaps at Lathlain in the midfield and forward line.

He's also an outsider who might be able to speak a few home truths to the board about how far this club is off the pace as a modern footy club.

He's an intriguing option if the previously mentioned big names like Harvey or Harris don't get their CV in by COB today.

It is looking like there may be only rookie coaches to consider in which case the applicants would need to have a pretty solid football pedigree as SD suggests.

Guerra certainly has that but there is much more to consider than just football pedigree and I hope that the decision makers are very thorough in their deliberations.

Did not Guerra also win a flag at Port??? Perhaps he is a good candidate for the job.

We should be grateful that anyone at all has applied given the basket case the club has been for 30+ years!!

I'm open to Guerra as a candidate. I like the idea of Chance alongside him. I've been really impressed with Changa since he's been back at Lathlain. His presence, the way he plays, his talk in the huddles. He'd be good value as an assistant.

Let's face it, we've not going to get the messiah. At a minimum we need someone who wants to be there, who's a half decent communicator, who has ideas and who can attract players - that's about the best we can expect.

But if he says in the interview "I love playing a high press forward line and trying to get one out the back to run into an open goal" then tell him there's the door, don't let it hit you on the way out! Or give him Steve Malaxamatosis' number. He loves that bullish*t as well.

If Guerra gets the gig can we send our blokes (players) over to do 2 weeks of pre season with Clarko's troops?
Get on your bike.

What about making an approach to Matthew Knights who is coach of VFL affiliate Geelong. Knights has had outstanding success with Geelong and is highly thought of by Geelong Coach Chis Scott. He has great success with development of younger players, has AFL coaching experience that was cut short by the self proclaimed God King in Hird. He was also recognised as an excellent skillful player who was a natural leader. Who can forget his Captain's game in 1995 to drag Richmond through to a preliminary final with hsi 3 O/S goals.

He may even be tempted to bring over one of the excess big men that are on Geelong's lists.
