Most of us on here would of done, Jury Duty.I have on two occasions.A rape case and an assult charge.
On both occasions my option was that the Police charges, should stick. But over a few days. The defense Lawyer created enough element of doubt. To have both cases thrown out.
Interesting on the Rape case.I was called up as the 20th Juror.Any women under the age or 40,where rejected by the defense Lawyer.

The high-profile sports celebrity at the centre of sexual abuse allegations was involved in a series of contacts with Deputy Commissioner Bruce Brennan around the time of a police inquiry into the man's behaviour.
But the celebrity denied having a close friendship with Mr Brennan and also denied being tipped off about an early-morning raid at his home in November, 1998, by child abuse unit detectives. During his time in the witness box at the royal commission yesterday, the man - code-named Q2 - was not asked about the allegations made against him by a woman. Commissioner Geoffrey Kennedy ruled that it was not an issue for the commission to determine.
But Q2 admitted that he had had an affair with her when she was married to her first husband.
The woman, who was taken out of the hearing room during the evidence, was visibly upset when she heard the man's comment on a video link-up. Later, outside the commission, she said that the suggestion they had an affair was a "total lie".
Q2 told the commission that two detectives came to his home about 6am on November 18, 1998. He was at home although, usually at that time of the day, he would be out walking his dog or riding his bike. He invited the detectives in but denied saying he was expecting them.

That evidence has been contradicted by the detectives, Senior Sergeant Mark Ingham and Constable Cristina Italiano, who have told the commission that Q2 made the comment, which surprised them.
Senior Sergeant Ingham added that he believed the alleged victim's story and, if the interview with Q2 had not been stopped after just seven minutes, he was confident that Q2 would have confessed to the crimes.
Yesterday in evidence, Q2 denied he was good friends with Mr Brennan, saying that they first met only in 1996 or 1997 while doing charity work together.
The commission heard that Mr Brennan made a phone call to Q2's home at 8pm on August 24, 1998 - four days after Superintendent Dave Caporn briefed the deputy commissioner on the Q2 inquiry, and that they cycled together in November, 1998, just after Q2 had been interviewed by child abuse unit detectives. It also heard that Q2 phoned Mr Brennan four weeks ago, after the commission started.

After the close of public hearings in relation to this segment, on 16 September 2002, a further allegation was made by Italiano. By a statement dated 9 October 2002, Italiano stated that she had been told by her counsel, Mr John Hammond, that he had been told by Mr PA Lines a former officer in the ACC that “Brennan and Inspector Looby had gone to the Anti-Corruption Commission to put pressure on them regarding the Q2 inquiry”. Lines was further interviewed by the Royal Commission and a statement was taken from him. He denied having said to Hammond “that Deputy Commissioner Bruce Brennan and Inspector Kevin Looby went to the Anti-Corruption Commission in order to put pressure on it in relation to the Q1/Q2 matter”.

Not saying anyone is guilty of anything, just need to ask a question.
How bad does it need to be to call oneself bankrupt?
Only owning the clothes on your back? Not being able to afford the weekly groceries shopping? Can't afford fuel for the vehicle? Have to sell the property just to survive? Cannot pay the water, electricity bill? Or what? Anyone know the cut-off point. Just askin.

bloody easy. just transfer everything into your partners name. i have seen it done so many times especially with bods starting out on the pension and renting rooms for so called lodgers. very simplistic answer, its more complex but anybody can become bankrupt, you just need a very good accountant. btw, remember brennans father and the burning of the shoes. theres lots there.

There is a formal Process for Bankruptcy, you file for it, and have to be declared so by the court, individual and companies ( a lot of builders ) do it to avoid debts, you simply need to have more debts that assets and unable to service them, what assets you have go into a trust that you no longer have control over and you are prohibited from doing certain things for a period of time, like be a director of a company, getting loans, obtaining certain employment like Police Officer etc.

WPFC came close , in an earlier step, went into Administration but came to settlement to avoid Bankrupcy to repay debtors.

Your personal belongings are protected, clothing, tools of trade. Anything not in your name or the company n ame is also protected, so a builders company can go broke but if his house is in his own or personal name behind the corporate veil its ok, this is why so many so called broke builders in Perth keep luxury boats etc.

As for Cable, its interesting I was involved in the Charity work he did with Brennan, mainly long distance bike riding to raise money for Legacy in the 90s.

What the tax payer won’t put up with is cops using their badge to looking after their mates and their sporting heroes. They don’t belong on the force and this Brennan bloke needs to face the music.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

DD, is Bruce Brennan still alive?
But you seem surprised by what allegedly happened.  Famous people,  sporting ones included, seems to have ways of making things go away. A lot of cases to look at.
Look at the cover up of Shirley Finn. Allegedly a copper involved. Allegdly a very high profile pollie involved.
At times it seems to be a case of who you know, or knew.
A lot of that seemed appropriate to certain football players.
Surprised you are surprised.

Epstein island
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Now we have another 2 ladies come forward accusing Cable as well.  5 ladies so far, will there be more?  The justice system better get their well paid arses moving and sort this out.. If he’s innocent, he can walk away, if not, he should be in jail.  Whichever, it’s at the most serious stage.
