BC up until November, Auckland was a no entry/no leave zone for the rest of NZ. Folk can now travel in / out of Auckland freely from any part of NZ. Considering that NZ fits into WA about 9 times are you telling me folk in Perth can't travel to Broome, Albany, Esperance etc with no restrictions?....no wonder why WA folk are pissed......If I was to fly 3 hrs + from Christchurch, I'd be in another country/s....sadly Aust is so vast compared to NZ....I get it why folk in WA are so frustrated.....just looking out for my frontline colleagues.....I am not looking one bit till Omnicrom hits NZ, my work load will go up ten fold....and I am already way over my hours, swabbing, vaccinating and my everyday ED work....just going to get worse.....but hey as folk say.....not my problem as I am not a front line worker....someone else can deal with it

Freezing I'm comparing apples to apples when I say provincial capital. The fact there's 2,500 kms of desert between say Perth and Adelaide is irrelevant when comparing it to Christchurch and Auckland. I understand your concern about the future but unfortunately it's inevitable that Covid is going to hit big time. My concern with the dates being pushed back by McGowan is the efficacy of our jabs including the third one I had last week waning ahead of the borders eventually opening. I see a real risk that those of us who currently have a decent level of protection will be exposed if we don't open up in the next 10 weeks or so making the job of your colleagues here in WA even harder. A lot of us had the booster based on a 5 Feb re-opening which has now turned to shit.

3/4 in a nurses union survey voted to delay the re opening date, which reiterates every point Mr Freeze has made, and their opinions should be valued more  than anyone.

Catch 22, unless we open up we won’t get the influx of nurses that are required from overseas and interstate to fix the current situation let alone the future.

Well i wouldn't of thought nurses, doctors and paramedics are as snowed under over here, as much as their E.States colleagues, and recruiting a couple of nurses here and there would do very little to cope with a sudden avalanche of cases.

According to news reports hospitals are understaffed now, any idea how to fix that without opening the borders ?
Cos your idea can be passed on to the minister and the premier cos the last 2 years of planning hasn’t solved the problem

Agree DD. There's now no timeframe on opening the place up so we're locked in for the foreseeable future. We also have to show our electronic papers at every turn so for mine, we're back in another time in the 1930's and we all know how that ended up. If anyone hears of a public rally against these latest measure please post details on here as I'm in.
Here you go BC, not that it will probably make any difference, as there are too many lefty bed wetting inbred numpty wa voters -

Well according to Mr Freeze, who has been in the coalface, nursing shortages have been a perennial problem,so what your suggesting is to throw open the borders at the original Feb5 and make the overwhelmed nurses sacrificial lambs???
