It's not me being Adolf 58. It's me knowing myself and me speaking to grand parents. All I have spoken to would like the same for their grandkids that they had for them selves.

Royal - I mention Dialysis patients because they are being kept alive by some pretty sophisticated medical equipment. Public health have done a supurb job in doing that.

Public health has funds and resources and decisions to make with both physical and mental health - It must take into account all factors.

Night all
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Obviously disappointing to hear of the delayed border opening announcement....everyone has their own agenda and reasons for and against this recent delay.....I am going to be openly selfish and say well done to McGowan for actually thinking of the safety and well being of WA frontline Health Professionals for once....unlike previous state premiers.....Open the borders folk say, as a front line Health Professional, easy for folk to say, especially when they won't be at the coal face when Code Brown hits WA hospitals.....yep someone else can clean up the mess, I just want my trip to the Gold Coast for a bit of R&R....Though when Code Brown hits, will any of those front line nurses and doctors be allowed annual leave?....nup don't think so....all hands on deck me thinks.

Yes I hear the regular roll out, they have had 2 years to sort out the ailing health dept etc....hmmm people forget there is a shortage of  nurses and doctors....has been for years, COVID has merely expedited this concern, travelling has been minimized  and many health professionals are  staying home actually caring for folk in their own back yard, plus staying close to their own loved ones.....could be regarded as being selfless or selfish in some folks eyes......

Can folk tell me what they mean by having 2 years to "sort it"....build all the fancy farking health centres & hospitals you want....staff is what needed to run it....no magic wand can rustle up nurses n doctors sadly....just how it is.

But hey let's open the borders....as TFAF says, get it over n done with in 5-6 weeks....I agree....but to do so I reckon every desk  nurse, doctor, nursing / medical management personnel, should be seconded to the coal face to help out over this period.........hey even all these border opening folk  and pro freedom fighters  could volunteer to help the front line staff.....don't need a degree to make or sterize a bed, ,empty a bed pan, listen to a patient's woes, take a temperature, pulse or BP...everything is automated these days....even better have these volunteers take the verbal/ physical abuse, directed at front line staff....at least the nurses and doctors can get on with what they are paid to do, without these added distractions......spread the load I say.......

Won't happen though,  fark the staff dealing with the Code Brown's, let them be the border opening sacrificial lamb, not my problem, just get those borders farking open.......sadly everyone has an agenda....thank fark McGowan has WA front line  workers health and well being at the forefront for once....long time coming though.....jeez I am a selfish wanker for wanting it too, as NZ borders are just as tight as WA's.....

Well said Freeze,

Isn't funny how we can all find experts to suit our cause, the question is which ones do you accept or refute. Me I will just along and see what happens but if the evidence suggests that NSW has reached its peak after how many cases and deaths (qualified by Covid being a contributing factor) I think waiting is an ok thing as long as the wait is determined quickly and then stuck to!

The United States  Centre for Disease control and Prevention.Has identified a new COVID related aliment.
Called Long COVID.It comes from people who have mild Omicron symptoms. And like a flue.,Are back on there feet.in a few days.
Strangely it affects athlete's and people who try and stay fit.Taking over a month to return to the previous energy levels, pre Omicron.Constantly fatigued and glued to the couch.
Health professionals say you are unlucky to get Long COVID.But no long-term health affects have been diagnosed.  Strange stuff that could create some weird sport results ,in the near future.

Well sorry Freezin you are wrong as are all the ones who love being wrapped up in cotton wool.

As predicted the states who our glorious premier loves to sink the boots into are following the trend of South Africa and daily cases are dropping dramatically. They have weathered the storm and will come out of it and be a mile in front while Gomer Pyle will just keep holding our state back.

Well done NSW.

I hear what you're saying freez but McClown was never going to adopt the let it rip strategy of NSW and Victoria. So if you think Feb 5 would have been like opening the doors at Myer for the Boxing Day sales you're wrong. He was talking about a very cautious opening where everyone coming in needed to be double vaccinated, lots of restrictions in place domestically and a situation where sure, infections would increase along with hospitalisations but not anything like we're seeing over east.  He's had 2 years to get the health system ready for that type of scenario and given we're about 90% double vaccinated, delaying it further makes no sense when the efficacy of those of us already double and triple vaccinated will start to wane the longer we wait.  Even the CHO has admitted we're probably at the peak of our vaccination effectiveness right about now.  To me it smells like a political decision so he can give Albo and his mates the best chance of picking up 4 seats here federally because I'm not sure there's a whole lot of medical science behind the decision.

Wrong in what way DD?....why should WA health front line workers and their families be the sacrificial lambs, so the likes of you  and others can skip the state for a bit of overdue R&R mate.....love your empathy and compassion.....let's hope you don't get sick when Charlie's or FS go into Code Brown....you might be making your own bed, dishing out your own medications and emptying your own bed pan mate.....staff will be run ragged elsewhere with more important concerns....but I get it, not your problem because you don't work in the profession....the usual box of cheap chocolates to show your gratitude will be sufficient.....always is.

A quick question freez...and I ask this in all seriousness as I don't know the answer...but can you jump on a plane and go up to another provincial capital like Auckland for a weekend then get back on another plane to head home with no restrictions on arrival? If the answer is yes, then that's great because we can't do anything similar over here in WA.
