I am disgusted with Mia Davies, well more than usual, she had the temerity to say that she was glad that the government finally listened to the opposition on the border reopening when we all know it was down to a couple of posters on this site who where the main drivers and experts that McGowan listened to, well done DD and DG and a little of BC, take a big bow boys.

Funny thing was tho that the national president of the AMA said on the ABC that the premiers decision to not open in february was a wise move as it brought the health system time and that with the RAT availability meant we were really well placed going into March and April, mmmm bit of a back flip there!

I think on the whole Mark McGowan has done a good job keeping the state unharmed - in NSW there is widespread anger at how their Premier has handled things and he'll be out of a job in their election coming up
and we have a far fairer GST share thanks to Mr McGowan and no Liberal premier got that I might add
I'm no sympathiser but fairs fair

Sorry Southy but I beg to differ. The last few Premiers have all been trying to get a better share of GST but the HFE policy as it currently exists came about in 2000 when GST was introduced. It was reviewed in 2018 by the Productivity Commission and a bottom floor of 70 cents in the $ was agreed to by ScoMo. It is a federal distribution of GST so McClown did no more or less than other WA Premiers before him. Any thanks should go to ScoMo who resists changing even though the likes of Dominic Parrot Head is constantly pushing for changes.

BC the only reason the gst share was changed is because the Liberals longstanding high popularity in WA, state and federal, came to an alarming end when Barnett was annihilated in whatever election that was. The Liberal Feds finally were given a wake up call that WA couldn't be taken for granted. I'm not thanking Slomo for it.

That may be so ToOl...but it certainly wasn't McClown's handy work as Southy suggests.

I give credit for pushing for change to the GST carve up to Colin Barnett who got the ball rolling and was very vocal about it. That pushed us deep into debt under Colin but he did spend big, mostly on that money pit called Elizabeth Quay.

But I give credit to Ben Wyatt for finishing the job. His arguments were compelling. If you remember the Morrison government were giving us top up payments at the time. Wyatt said if it’s ok for us to receive top up payments then if the other states complain it’s not fair we get a greater share of our own GST then it should be ok for those other states to receive top up payments from the commonwealth.

That is basically how the Morrison government convinced the states to agree to the changes, they were basically blackmailed by the states to pay huge top up payments in exchange for giving us a minimum floor of 70% GST.

Borders down 3 March

2 SQM rule in.

75% Capacity limits at Stadiums

More to come....
Thank farrrk for that, is he finally reading the tea leaves? Has he timed it right so he can spend time with the family after he gives evidence in the Sydney Supreme Court and not have to apply for a G2G pass to get back in? Will incoming still have to quarantine?
Hopefully we should be on the road to a bit of normality.  Perhaps you can rebuild a close relationship with Mark Mc DD?
Perhaps Mark did read my recent email? 😉😂
