I thought ScoMo said recently international arrivals would have to test negative before they're allowed back in?

It's these people overseas not wanting to come home until they get the sick then suddenly need to come home that's the real problem.

Sounds like it mate - But you can only Cry Wolf so many times, when something does actually happen the sting will wear off.

Pretty concerned for the WAFL season one more case in a month or two and this stunt gets pulled again.

That comment is a bit harsh.....There are many that simply cannot return because of abruptly cancelled flights, getting bumped continually or other flights sell out too quickly.
The whole thing is just a bloody shambles, sad to say.

As someone stated previously, there is something horribly wrong!
Since the 31st of January to the 5th of February, there have currently been 4 cases in WA. Both Mon and Tue having 1 case each. Wed being zero and two cases recorded yesterday. And have not heard of any cases being reported for today being Friday. These four cases are returned travellers under supervision and pose no risk.
The young hotel guy was supposedly being exposed to the UK strain, which reportedly to be 60 to 70% more contagious than the normal version. And yet no community transmitted cases have surfaced since lockdown was sprung. Not even from his household. Just seems odd?
It begs the question have we had a mis-diagnoses in this case or have we simply been unbelievably super lucky?
If these new strains of the virus are supposed to be worse, why use hotels in the city within high populated areas? If the govt is supposedly concerned of people’s safety and well-being, why not have the quarantine facility/ ies in an area well away from city areas? Is simply not necessary to have these facilities where the populous is dense.
Why has this question been ignored or brushed under the carpet? Because that needs to change.
Probably because the govt, hotels and caterers have found a money making venture – it’s probably all good and nothing to worry about!

My point is wag these people had plenty of opportunity to come home when it was safer to do so earlier in the piece when hotel quarantine was free. It's been nearly 12 months now and still people are coming home or is it peanuts who have flown overseas during the pandemic that have placed their lives and in doing so placed our lives and freedom in jeopardy?

I'd love to know this data.

That's most pertinent point to me mate, all these clowns telly us McGowan is the greatest leader since Churchill, fail to recognize this bunch of clowns are all running around dodging a bullet they fired at themselves via crap security and mixed standards.

I generally keep out of a debate like this but it has absolutely staggered me to read some of the comments on this thread. Whatever you think of McGowan, the fact is that we have for all intents and purposes lived a normal life for the past 10 months with all the small businesses trading, able to go unrestricted to gyms, shops ,have large gatherings etc etc.

Now that we are asked to go in to lockdown for 1 week and then keep masks on in public for another week, people pile on him like as if he has created the virus. FFS some of you guys need to get a sense of perspective. Would you rather be somewhere else, say UK or Portugal or US where thousands people are dying of this horrible disease. My relatives in Ireland have been locked down for months with no end in sight. I would rather be here and put up with a few temporary minor inconveniences than somewhere else where the politicians have failed to take the decisions to go hard and early at the virus and their populations are now facing the consequences. Get a grip.
