Mike I think the point you might be missing is McGowan has been cock a hoop up until now basking in the glory of our Covid free run while the eastern states have probably had more periods of community spread that Covid free so Mark has had plenty of opportunity to analyse what’s transpired over east and learn from their mistakes.

One of them was obviously not allowing security guards in Covid hotels to have second jobs. It is staggering that policy hasn’t yet been implemented. Another one that’s just been revealed today is it’s been policy in every other state except WA that security guards must wear masks AT ALL TIMES when on duty.

yeah look I'm not a fan of his combative style and the hotel quarantine does seem to be a stuff up but you have to give him credit that he has been consistent in his messaging that he will do whatever it takes to protect the health of WA people and by and large that has worked to the extent that we have been able to live normally

Being as isolated as we are,we are sometimes a bit detached from reality particularly when you look at whats occurred around the world in the last 12 months where we've seen a so called western super power resort to erecting a makeshift tent in the New York hospital carpark to cope with the spiralling covid numbers as well as makeshift carpark basement wards in other U.S.cities as well as countries like Peru running out of ICU beds,and countries like Spain and Italy running out of cemetary plot spaces and being forced to bring in bulldozers to dig up and bury the victims in makeshift graves,so i don't have any problem with McGowan's ''rather be safe than sorry approach'',even though i feel for the people financially impacted by the restrictions.

I've very much appreciated the way McGoo has handled things up until now but when we haven't had community spread for 11 months then all of a sudden we get one and 80% of the state's population have to go into lockdown, that's when I start to question whether his motives are health driven or political. As LH says, this virus will not be eliminated or "smashed" to use McGoo's terminology...we just have to learn to live with it and imo that doesn't mean shutting down the state every time we get a case or two.

I don't understand how people are failing to grasp the only defence against this horrible virus,until everybody gets vaccinated has been the restriction of travel from interstate and overseas as well as the promotion of social distancing,and people have been quite quick to forget how quickly we spiralled to 500 state cases before all the steps and measures were taken to restrict and effectively curtail the spread of the disease,which has been lauded by the envious U.S.infectious disease expert Dr Fauci who had his trial and tribulations with the Orange nutcase who had no interest in controlling the disease.

There is no blueprint to deal with this situation they are obviously doing things on the fly and compromising with the re-opening of business's while still keeping certain restrictions,or we could go with the Trump willy nilly gameplan of ''it will all blow over''which would have seen us with 1000's of cases and who knows how many deaths.
