As DG said on general news recycling an old topic but this one deserves its own thread. Heard he lives with 3 others in a share house and all are now in hotel quarantine.

Questions? How did he get it? Did he have just one job? Do we have a policy here in WA if you work in a Covid hotel are you prohibited from having a second job? Pretty sure Victoria are paying security staff a higher rate to compensate not having a second job.

I bought a couple of packets of 10 masks a couple of weeks ago in anticipation this was going to happen. $8.90 at Aldi if anyone wants to know. I wonder if this impacts the opening of the borders with QLD and Victoria? Probably the reverse is going to happen now. Borders shut to anyone from Perth.

McGowan is left with no choice but to go hard early. Get ready folks there will be plenty of community spread I reckon. Hopefully it’s not the UK or South African strain.

DD this bloke was working in the hotel that was housing people with the UK strain so the Govt are assuming it is that variant. He tested neg 2 days before doing shifts on the 26th and 27th I think, then felt crook and tested positive but not before visiting 20 plus sites around Perth mostly in the Maylands area. We are/were booked to fly to Adelaide and Melbourne to visit family we haven't seen for over 18 months, we are outside the Metro area but cant travel to the Airport as it's in a "red zone lockdown" and our SA travel entry permit does not permit entry if we move through a Red zone. Our flight was for 7.00am next Friday, 11 hours before the lockdown finishes!! Cant check to change flights as the call centre is only dealing with flights booked for the next 72hrs. Not keen to re-book flights too soon as there is a high possibility that there will be some community spread and the metro area could go into a much longer shutdown. Ahhh the new normal eh?

Ahh shite that sucks SS. I’m sincere when I say I really feel for you and your family. Yes that is the new normal, as soon as you hop on a plane anywhere outside the state you run the risk at a minimum of having to self isolate for 14 days when you come back.

Well some serious questions need to be asked and Marky Mark has been warning us since we’ve learned about this UK strain to BUY MASKS. He anticipated this was eventually going to happen. My selfish main concern I’ve got is we knock it on the head as quickly as possible so it doesn’t impact the WAFL season.

Now the question has to be asked which I will save for the WAFL section.

My understanding is the guy worked in the city and tested 4 times in January. Three of the tests negative and the latest test taken last Wed or Thur returned positive. He spent days just going around the metro area unawares of anything wrong. Anyone that visited a large number of venues/ shops etc the guy frequented in the metro area, also need testing. Of course that translates to thousands of people! Apparently said guy came into contact with both the UK and South African strain. Not sure if he had 2 jobs or not?
Yep, the lockdown applies to the wholw metro area and the soth west region.

Queensland is the first state to move.They have just announced that anyone from the greater Perth metro,Peel region+South West.On arrival in Queensland will need to be tested for Covid-19+ two weeks quarantine.
Given that the gentleman in question has been all over the place the last few days.My tip is the lockdown from Sunday 6pm 31\1 to Friday 6 pm 4/2 will be extended to 14 days.
Hopefully where lucky and the 5 day shutdown works like it did in South Australia in November last year.Hope not but there could be 100's already infected in the early stages.
The AMA believe the security guard looking after the floor with the infected arrivals from overseas.Sheraton Hotel Adelaide Terrace caught the infection through the Air conditioner system.The original strain of covid didn't spread that way like the South African strain.The guard was not wearing a face mask.

I think he should have highly paid military doing this job of security

I am goimg to pose a question with a fair amount inference included!

If we look at what happened in Vic, NSW and Qld the common denominator was or is a security guard from a hotel taking care of overseas returners, second common factor.

Having looked where the significant number returnees are from one place springs out - Southern Asia.

Now there is a fair chance given the propensity of Security guards and ride share drivers come from southern Asia what does that suggest!

Personally I think all returnees from that region should be refused entry! Plus any guard must be tested every day morning and night, yes I know they are but this muppet got sick and did not report it but kept working, jail time to send a message!

WA AMA president Andrew Miller has labelled WA’s hotel quarantine amateurish and inadequate. My mail is this guy was also a part time Uber driver. McGowan wants to talk the tough talk and taken cheap shots at other states quarantine systems, it’s time for him to step up and admit he hasn’t done enough.

Needs to be better PPE and no hotel quarantine worker should be allowed to have a second job or do part time studies. They obviously have to be compensated for that.

The Premier was phoned about midnight sat night/Sun morning.By Wa's chief health officer.And told of the events that had taken place.The emergency media conference was held about 12-30 today.So lots of people have been working behind the scenes. In what would of been a crazy 12hours.
Even my local IGA was kaos today.With the City of Sterling Rangers controlling cars parked everywhere. Like March last year ,absolute panic has set in.Even heard a story of a large man verbally abusing an elderly lady in Coles Noranda.Over a place in a chequout line.Fortunatley the lady at the checkout had the gentlemen removed to the back of the line.And removed by security after a rant.

Masks this time. While running/exercising even whilst outdoors. Ridiculous and probably bad for the person wearing the mask.

Another small encumbrance added on. Each time will be another - maybe a permanent wrist ban or the like next time.
