cancel that - Travis Head has tested positive , Mitch Marsh , Nic Maddinson & Josh Inglis added to the cover squad
Surely Marsh will be a Monty for a spot….wouldn’t he ??

First I have heard that Southy?
Head just had covid thats why he missed the Sydney Test.
Good to common sense finally applied with our selections and Khawaja's form in Sydney is rewarded by moving up to open again with Warner while Harris is dropped.
Looks like Boland has a late fitness test with Richardson on standby for him, Starc obviously has been picked to play.

Great start by Australia after losing the toss and being put into bat on a pitch as green as the one SA annihilated them on about 6 years ago we are 3/12 with Warner & Smith both out without troubling the scorers.
Those Eastern States lot calling for Hobart to be given a Test over Perth have gone awfully quiet!

I saw the article just before I posted it up mate - glad they got it entirely wrong because Head played one of the best knocks I've seen in ages on that green top , pity Green got suckered with that short ball it looked like another 100
Bloody journalists haha

I havent totally been convinced with Head as a Test batsman but that innings last night when he came in at 3/12 (should have been 4/12 if they hadnt dropped Labuschagne on 0) and the ball doing everything on a green seaming deck was outstanding.
He along with Marnus & later Green took the attack back to the bowlers much like Bairstow & Stokes did in Sydney to our bowlers.
Just a pity he got out when had the bowling there for the taking as did Marnus & Green as well making it set up for an intriguing Test.
Can Carey actually do something constructive with the bat for a change or will he once again throw his innings away?

Looks like Australia have already checked out of this Test & Series.
A lamentable batting effort in our 2nd innings and now England coasting to victory in their chase of 271.
Why on earth we played Starc in this Test over Richardson I will never know?
Probably the NSW mafia at work again, the same one plotting the demise of Langer as coach through their 'mates' in the East Coast media!

4 for 92, is there going to be another twist in this one?

Our (Australia) second-innings batting was very poor and I feared that we were in big trouble when England reached 0-68 on the stroke of tea.
However, I just cannot believe the tourists - no matter how fragile their batting has been this series - could capitulate in such dramatic fashion, losing 10-56.
I thought I heard yesterday on ABC Grandstand's always excellent radio coverage that 17 wickets falling in a day was a record in Australia (17-287).
Well, by my hurried calculations, 17-242 fell today.
Australia's batting is still very suspect, but I think Cam Green has come of age as a bowler and that means whatever XI the selectors choose, we'll invariably have an excellent five-pronged attack.
There's nothing wrong with England's bowling and Mark Wood is a potential superstar, but their batting is the worst I've ever seen in my many years of following Test cricket.
