And yet the safest place in the country in regards to catching Covid missed out on having a Test and most of the Big Bash GTR in favour of holding in the Eastern States by CA!
Go figure!

With Head testing positive, wouldn't the entire Australian team as well as coaches and maybe the Poms be considered close contacts and be in quarantine for the next 7 days at least? When Green took the last wicket on Tuesday I recall there was a fair bit of hugging and back slapping going on which surely would qualify as close contact.

Travis Head has tested positive to COVID .Now there's a rumour a second player but no statement made yet.
Josh Englis and Mitch Marsh called up for the Sydney squad.Maby Alex Carey is the second player.

Marcus Harris is the second player caught up Khawaja will open and either marsh or Maddison bats at 5. Maybe they rest Greene im not sure

PH-58 shark was tipping a Mitch Marsh test comeback.I wasn't sure if the selectors would pick him again.Hes got his spot back on form.Good move to rest Greene imo.

58....you got to feel for Joe Root.....he has had a standout calender year personally....scored some big runs, whilst those around him have done fark all.....I see extras is Eng 3rd top run scorer this year.....and there is a 1200 gap between Root and Eng second top scorer in 2021.
I guess it's part  n parcel of being the skipper.....the buck stops with you....would think managing the egos of Broad and Jimmy wouldn't be easy either.

Be interesting to see who takes over from Root if he is made to step down......Stokes obviously in the gun, but with his recent MH issues, would he even want it? Reckon there will be more pain before Eng see's any gain TBH.....quite nice not having Aust self imploding TBH....whilst early days....but Cummins looks like a fantastic choice......no surprises to see Green find his bowling mojo under Paddy.....just hoping Green can finish of this series strongly with the willow...
Showing empathy for a Pommy cricketer??  You’re a good man man Freeze, the kiwis must have softened you up.
You’re right though, having to deal with a couple of Prima donnas that have very high opinions of themselves and then throw in a loose cannon in Stokes, not an envious position to be in.

The CA CEO had tested positive to COVID 19.Kevin Roberts.
So have commentators James Brayshaw and Andrew Simons. So who knows how many 7 commentator's will be in quarantine for the Sydney Test.
Unclear what crowds will be allowed to attend the Sydney test.
Are the Australian and English teams in bubbles. With two days before the Sydney test.A lot can happen in the next two days.

and now we do wheel out a 35 year old repetitive failure to prop up the middle order - jesus what a great chance to blood the future with a Phillippe , a Maddinson or a Patterson missed

Have to agree Southerner, was the perfect opportunity to expose Maddinson who is in good form to another test match.

Pretty sure Maddinson last exposure to test cricket wasn't something to get excited about from memory.....hopefully with age his technique has matured......Philippe would of been an ideal selection me thinks, but with the BBL in full swing, tha was never going to happen sadly....though in all honesty when was the last time any possible candidate  mentioned above has even seen a red cricket ball.....let alone hit one?
