Back to back Uzzie tons, Green relaxing the shoulders a bit, Harris once again gives a sniff but fails to go on. Not sure JL's  mini me really is the ticket here.....can't drop Uzzie now, surely a Hobart gig is non negotiable now.....

Would even bat Green at 5 now, let Head play his shots at 6......if Starc and Lyon get piss poor figures today in Eng Chase, then surely it's time for both to be rotated out of the team....being Hobart is a designated spinner even needed?

Warner, Uzzie, Labuschagne, Smith, Green, Head, Carey, Cummins, Richardson, Neser and Boland.....

Harris is just not up to Test level as an opening batsman and dont get me started on his fielding ability or lack of.
It seems to me selectors Bailey & Dodemaide are giving him every opportunity under the sun to finally prove himself but playing for Australia every Test should be about picking the best XI available and he wouldnt be in the best 20 in my books.
Khawaja has to stay in and move to open and Head (who I am not totally convinced by) has at least made the most of his opportunity at the Gabba and should come back in at 5.
As for Maddinson leave me out of him as well....remember M.Waugh chose him out of the blue 6 years ago and he looked like a fish out of water at Test level. He would be in the worst 5 batsman I have seen play for Australia at Test level since 1979/80 with "illustrious" other members like Quiney (Warne's mate who pushed for his inclusion like Beer another shocker), Wayne Phillips (the Vic one not the SA keeper/batsman) etc....
Another one who has to be scrutinised is Carey the keeper who has dropped a couple of sitters and let another just go straight past him. A few of us had our doubts about his keeping having seen him at Shield level before hence why we pushed for Inglis and or Phillipe to be given the job with an eye to the future. His batting has also looked unsure for mine.

The other elephant in the room is how much longer should Sydney hold this New Year Test?
Every year there are rain delays on almost every day.
It is about time this Test in the middle of the holiday season is given to another City, preferably one in which rain is not a factor.
It is not as though the crowds flock to it either, it resembles a State crowd today for instance with the Test up for grabs.
But wishful thinking as we know Cricket East Coast would never move the MCG or SCG Tests!

How bloody good was that?  Wrong result for me, but great cricket.

Yes it went down to the last ball but once again Australia couldnt bowl a side out on Day 5 at the SCG.
The talk of Starc, Cummins, Lyon (and Hazlewood when fit) playing on their home deck and must play at their home ground the SCG has to be remembered to be thrown out the window before next years clash there as once again Starc & to a lesser extent Lyon had virtually no influence on the game and our best bowler was Vic Boland followed by West Aussie Green.

Just on Sydney & NSW - once again the annual ugly abuse to players has surfaced again , they are just a pack of varmint animals over there and something really does need to be done to rid Australia of these parasites mate
Otherwise it was a really hard fought match for a good change

Bar Paddy's last spell with the new ball in the final stanza, his bowling was off as well during this test......Starc seriously needs a spell.....done his job till Sydney.....Richo definitely needs a go now.....Will JL have the nous though?.........

I dunno why a lead of more than 350 is needed on a day 5 Sydney pitch against England
Agree with BH also, sick of Sydney being a lock for the new years test

'Bease', as we said last season, Lyon can only bowl to the  lefthanded batsmen, and, sadly, England has had a plethora of those mostly ordinary--
Milan
Stokes
Burns
Leach
Ali
Cook
Carbury
Curran
Anderson
Broad
