Since boxing day,The tests havnt rated under 750,000 viewers.Thats amazing for a 6 hour daily telecast. Some very happy sponsors.Only beaten by ch7+9 nightly news service.
Even BBLX (big bash) which ch7 did not want this year.Because covid-19 would reduce the amount of international players available. In a a long season is rating over 350,000 per match.Beating over 80% of shows on tv for ratings.

No surprise to me mate, cricket would probably be in the Top 2 or 3 most popular sports in the world behind soccer.
Especially when you consider a number of the cricket playing countries like India (1.3+ billion), Pakistan, Bangladesh etc would be in the top half dozen countries for largest populations in the world.

BH going to try and get the Indian tv ratings. If our population can pull 700,000 here there must be millions watching over there.
Can't find anything on India. But Foxtel have smashed all there Cricket ratings this summer.Average of over 500,000 viewers+ Kayo Sports.

I was totally mystified at the Australian tactics late on day 4. Instead of declaring at tea with a lead of 275, they chewed up more time in the last session to pretty much ensure that India won't win the game. All I can conclude is that Australia are completely spooked out by India's resilience and counter attacking in this series and that they don't have confidence in their bowlers to get 10 wickets on a 5th day track. If Paine had declared at tea they would have got around 10 - 12 overs at the Indians and they could have easily taken 2 or 3 wickets in the gloom which would have made the task a lot easier tomorrow. Typifies the muddled thinking that has been a feature of the Australian brains trust this season. They just aren't used to having a competitive opponent at home. As I said yesterday Australia had to risk losing in order to maximise their chances of winning but now I think the draw is odds on, especially given the dicey weather forecast.

I think Rahane is a very good captain and his calm leadership has inspired his players to perform above and beyond expectations.
If the weather allows 60 overs tomorrow Australia may still get away with a victory if the bowlers can attack the stumps and let the wicket do the work, not sure if they deserve the win though.

Looked at the vision of the changeroom balcony and there's no doubt who is the captain - strangely enough that person is also the coach

Time for a new regime up top and Gillespie is the man - no more favourites and no more bizarre tactics and this disgusting sledging mentality

Get ready for a bumper barrage on the final day. It will be boring to watch.

Extra 10-20-30 overs at India wouldnt matter one iota.
They are playing the overrated Australian bowling attack with consummate ease.
The great thing about this result is hopefully a complete overhaul of the Australian side and staff, if I were the likes of Paine, Wade, Harris, Langer even Starc & Lyon I would be updating my resume asap!

Paine is so predictable...go to Starc, keep persisting with Starc....yet he goes at 4 + an over....FFS give Green a decent crack with the ball....nope let's persist with Starc....Starc looks like he is well n truly cooked....well batted Gill....can see this lad being around for a long long time....some of these Aust "senior" players are too comfortable selection wise TBH....Yep roll out a good performance every now and then and keep your place.....don't often agree with Southy, but Langer needs to be farked off and farked off quick....bring in Gillespie....Langer has taken this team as far as he can....Gillespie has coached all over the world....Langer only in Aust....time to move the Steve Waugh brown nose gnome on....

Freeze what were Langer's actual achievements as a Coach to have been given the Australian role?
WA are still in a 21 year Sheffield Shield drought in which Langer was Coach for a good majority of the last decade for no result and please dont put up that KFC Buckethead comp's results as a prerequisite achievement!

And agree about Paine FMD not only Green but even give Labuschagne a decent bowling stint instead of 1 or 2 overs when a draw is imminent. He might be able to get one to jump, bounce and turn into those footmarks when Pant is on strike.

India it must be said have played some courageous cricket - apart from that collapse it has been a superb performance with so many unavailables
and we could be seeing another remarkable win in progress
Lyon is ineffective and near useless - been shown up badly two tests running
Warnie is bang on the coin

Absolutely loving this from Washington and Pant. Absolute onslaught going for the victory and now fortune favours the brave with 4 byes. Beautiful to watch that's how you play the game.

I'm not really surprised with the depth they have with a population of 1 billion and cricket is like religion. Many times I've seen those mad bastards playing cricket in the middle of winter during the week.

I reckon every boy in India is given a cricket bat from the day they can stand. They can all bat and bowl.

Another 4 byes through slips lol. Valuable lesson for Australia about opportunity.
