Every year you start out 4-1 or 5-2 and everyone else then knows that Perth aren't far away from falling in a huge hole for the rest of the year.

Can't be fitness - everyone trains the same. Coach tactics?? Worked for the first 6 weeks. Player mental toughness and willingness to win?? YEP.

Player mental toughness and willingness to win?? YEP. comments from ex players might suggest that this closer to the truth than most would like to state, but then it was his opinion and that maynot be accurate!

I don't think Butler could stay at EP Freezin. He would be deemed as a recruit outside their zone. Unless they change the rules again of course.

Johnson's is irrelevant as when he was at the Eagles he played at Swans not East Perth.

Ash Hansen was listed as a 5 point player in 2012, so I should say that Sam Butler would be somewhere around there. If it comes back and he is a 10-point player that's just crap.

I agree Doggy but its even more than that. We need people who are not 'in love' with the club. By that I mean total outsiders with clear lenses who have not been entrenched in the culture of the club for the last 40 unproductive years! Not that these guys are not genuine contributors to the club we just need 'football' people like you said who call a spade a spade and are not influenced by their love of the red and black Guernsey!

Butler is not a home grown Perth player, he only came to Perth because WCEdrafted him.....and he has played AFL.....did Perth recruit him?.......no and whilst he has played 49 games for you guys have you guys paid him for any of those games?........don't think so?.......not too sure why Hansen was a 5pt player.......did SD recruit him from over east?.......no I think WCE did from memory.

That's the way the system was back then Freezin with the allocation of Eagles and Dockers players to the 9 WAFL Clubs.

Yes Butler was an Eagles player but he played those games for us and that counts for something. I'm not saying he should be 1-2 points but around the 5-7 would be adequate. If they came out and said he is a 11-12 point player even after he played those games for us then that is crap.

Frezzn, Sammy has always been a good Perth person ever since he first walked in to the Club as a youngster, after being drafted by the Eagles.
I would be very surprised if he wanted to play anywhere else if he wanted a game.
The only thing that might stand in our way is if he stays at WCE in some off field role.

I suppose WCE could appoint him an assistant Coach at EP, (playing ?).
