Good point Zazzler.
Maybe the names we are mentioning have already said no.

Too be honest Dazzler i reckon they are not to sure who should coach us,i dont have a great deal of confidence in the decision makers at our club!!
Thats why it wouldnt surprise me if we appointed Waterman.

If Harvey is settling here in Perth then i reckon he would be looking for a coaching job.
Maybe the South Freo job is a far more appealing job than ours.
Lets face it our reputation of not succeeding and failure is well known.

Fair point, however, I would have thought that advertising the position would be best practice.
Whilst I am sure that they have a list which they maybe marking off, advertising the position may unearth another prime candidate that we are not aware of as well as the duds. I would have thought that the duds won't get an interview.
They are not dilly dallying as they have set an advertising period of about 2 weeks (applications close 31/07).
The replies are to Marty, I would have thought the duds would not get past him.
The feedback I have had is that they are wanting to appoint sooner rather than later.

Advertise ?? Damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Last year they said they would advertise and then they didn't. They just reappointed DM on the basis of continuing the momentum achieved by the then existing coaching structure.. whatever that meant..but half the coaching staff left before the start of the current season.

There were howls from most criticising the lack of advertising. Were you one of them 30+, Dazz ?

BTW, I am pleased that they have advertised and I am impressed with how the advert was constructed. It has the mark of the CEO all over it, IMO, and demonstrates that the club is leaving no stone unturned in the search for the next coach.

I also liked the way the advertisement read, sustained future success etc.
It does sound a bit like Marty, I just hope they allow him some "free rein" in the process.
I think he does have an agenda, and I think that is leading down the right path, whilst cementing his future as an administrator.
His football knowledge and experience with success is what we need.
It will be interesting to see how the process develops.

I think what I mean is, that he will want the right bloke.
We need to listen and find the dough.
No ifs no buts, find the dough.
Then somehow we have to find the right people off the field.

I ask this question just because I am interested in the response, sensible ones at least.

Do you have the payers and depth to do the job no matter who is the coach,in the olden days (haha) a Ken Armstrong could coach a star team to beat a team of stars but in todays football I am pretty sure that doesn't work - Carlton and others.

So if you get an a grade coach will he have enough A grade players supplemented by enough B graders to carry you through!

I ask because my old club was showing signs of collapse through having a weak zone and but for the SW we would have struggled. I think the Demons suffer from the same issues.

You do make a good point Grump.
IMO, it is fair to say that Perth is short on depth and will need to do some very prudent yet creative recruiting as well as getting the right coaching structure in place.
There is no way the club will be presenting to a new coach a sh*tload of talent depth that they gave to a rookie coach in 1966 that resulted in three consecutive flags.
This is going to take more time and heaps of work will need to be put into identifying and bringing talent thru the transition paths as quickly as possible as well as the recruiting process.
I don't expect a flag next year (though I would be happy to see it) but we must start playing and winning finals straight away as part of the resurgence we all seek and build on it from there.
