Mr AFL i think you will find that stat (4th best attack) to be wrong.
Check the Sunday Times that you will find is the correct for and against.
Bear in mind as well there are a couple of teams that have played 1 less game than us.
For mine we have one of if not the weakest attack in the league!
Our team is certainly not a high scoring team and when your not capable of kicking more than 13 goals in a game and you have a defence that is the weakest in the comp that means many more losses than wins.
Nup we do have the fourth best attack 30 plus. The Sunday Times is wrong. And throughout most of the season there is always a team that's played one more or one less game.
I find it strange that we are that high up for scores for. Without looking you would have said that we should be bottom 2. Desperately lacking a tall forward and for me that is the main priority when it comes to off season recruiting. Then we should be looking at two quality mids.
Ok then although my point being with teams being 1 game behind us is that South and WP will be on equal games played after today and will improve there "for" column.
Whether it will better than ours remains to be seen.
I will bet one thing, that after 20 rounds and all teams having played the same number of games that we will be close to bottom 2 on points for.
Throw in a ruckman and another tall KP backman with what we desperately need.
That would be nice as well 30 plus. However with the points system in place and how hard we have found recruiting the last 10 years I would put a key forward and 2 classy midfielders ahead of a ruckman and backs.
I reckon we are ok in the ruck department when Leyendekkers and Eyres are fully fit but in saying that if a Mitch Andrews, Chris Keunen or Mark Seaby etc.... was available then we would definitely be better in that area with one of them in it.
In regards to the midfield if that was stronger with the two classy midfielders then maybe clearances wouldn't be so one sided to the opposition and the scores against wouldn't be as bad.
Add to that if the new coach is able to get the likes of Ali Smith and Julian Jacobs back. Personally thought Jacobs was a ripper player, always gave a great effort and 110% for the team and was a runner up F&B as well. Could always be relied on to do a role as well. I remember a couple of times he was playing as a specialist back pocket.
Sorry to get side tracked haha I think he has been a big loss this year. Only positive has come in the fact that I reckon Brad Keast has shown signs that he can be a decent shut down player.
There's also the possibility with the emergence of McGovern at the Eagles that one of our key talls in McInnes, Tunbridge and Colledge may be delisted at the end of the season.
All are one point players and would add to the team. However I wouldn't want one of the Eagles potential delisted players to be the key position player that we say we have recruited. Any players that come back to the club should be seen as a bonus as they only cost 1 point rather than a genuine recruit if you know what I mean.
Edit: Also add Matthew Tedesco. Another player that will benefit the team and has a couple of top 3 fairest and best finishes to his name I think.
