Interesting times for the by-election. I imagine Morrison will try to put it off for as long as possible, in a futile bid to gain some traction with the electors of Wentworth.

Although as we previously learned prior to the announcement of Super Saturday, the decision on "when" is entirely in the hands of the House Speaker.

It is a win win to Labor because it reduces the number of Coalition members in the House of Reps to 74 excluding the Speaker. Ripe for a no confidence vote. Morrison loses a no confidence vote he is obliged to hold an election.

Further if J Bishop resigns then he would be down another vote and there would be no paring provided by Labor.

Falcon I FIRMLY believe that people should be engaged in politics so that when politicians play the race card they are informed about is the real situation and make an informed choice when they vote. If you personally choose to be ill-informed or uninformed then that is your choice; it is not mine.

I would strongly recommend that you read the book Common Ground a Political Life written by Justin Trudeau the Canadian Prime Minister. He articulates why everyone should be engaged in politics.

Yes that's correct.
The deposed PM is set to leave parliament by the end of the week, after saying he would not stay on the back bench.
His departure will see a by-election take place in his seat of Wentworth. Apparently on the 6th of October.
New PM Morrison will be in a tricky position as apparently turnbulls departure leaves the Coalition with no majority in the parliament.

Swan42, I come to the conclusion a long time ago that we don’t have good politicians in this country on both sides , they are all in it for themselves, they only worry about winning the next election so they can keep their perks for another term, we don’t attract good smart people into politics because those people are busy making millions running huge corporations, why would they become a politician get paid peanuts?
Until we start paying good money for politicians and start attracting a smarter breed of Polly with vision and brains, you gonna have these tossers making stupid decisions based on some idiotic tree hugging jerk who just come out of uni who things that stopping shopping bags at coles is going to make a fucken huge difference to the entire world but at the same time in India and China they are pouring a zillion tons of plastic oil , turds into the oceans!!!!
That’s why I have no interest in Australian politics...

More ordinary people are needed in politics.
Not all these so called "professionals"

For example jack.
Malcolm Turnbull is a millionaire banker.
Old Rudd was a diplomat I think before parliament?
Juliar G being a lawyer.
And old Abbot is an economist?
And wasn't Howard a lawyer?
That is just to name a small selection. And what bloody good have all these professional people been?
Bloody useless is a word that comes to mind!
