I don't know whether your recollection of events is accurate or not. I'd suggest it's probably tainted by your obvious dislike of my club but it's irrelevant anyway as the fact remains Subi had a valid lease and was compensated when they agreed to move before it expired. The WAFC could have let the lease run it's course and Subi would have had to move elsewhere at it's own cost but that didn't happen.

Getting back to the topic....I will have a go.

Subi - who else?
Souths - next best with Zac Clarke
Tigers - continue to develop talent in great numbers
Royals - recruited strongly
Eagles - they mean business IMO

Demons - Masten big plus. Depends on how good other recruits perform
Falcons - always around the place
Peel - could be higher...depends on how first five perform
Sharks - cannot see where any improvement will come from...big outs no real ins
Swans - huge rebuilding ahead.

Too early really to be too definitive.

Who are the big outs for East Fremantle? Only time will tell but I have a feeling the guys they have brought in will do better than those leaving - all of whom struggled for a regular league spot, not just last season but last few.

Smokey I think Zac Clarke signed with East Doncaster or similar in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago.

Ted Nugent wrote: Chaddy, you make a fair point. However, my view is this: C had the alignment for only one year and relinquished it due too concerns that it hampered junior development. At that point, SF were neutral: they said that if another club took up the Eagles alignment, they would keep the Dockers.' EP was then the only club that volunteered, without which the whole thing would have collapsed after one season. What is particularly galling, even now, is that EP deny that they derived any benefit from that alignment, despite going from second last to triple premiers. You then benefitted, on and off-field, from the second alignment, yet you pretend you had no other choice. You also seem to think that everyone should just forgive and forget and welcome back the real EP as though nothing happened. That is why I will always reserve a special level of contempt for your club.

Yes, Ted, East Perth did go from second-last (1999) to a premiership in the space of a season (2000).
But what you conveniently forget is that in the three previous years (1996-98) the Royals were coached by Kevin Worthington, they won 38 and drew one of 65 games (a win percentage of 58.46 ignoring the draw).
The WAFL has several examples of teams finishing on the bottom one year and winning the flag the next.
South Fremantle (1969 to 1970) and West Perth (1974 to 1975) spring to mind.
There are other instances of teams with lowly finishes being premiers the next year.
East Fremantle, for example, were sixth in both 1991 and 1993 but won the 1992 and 1994 grand finals.
The Royals certainly obtained some benefit from the partial alignment of 2000-01, but stalwarts such as Jeremy Barnard, Devan Perry, David Swan, Rod Wheatley and Andrew Worland had played in the losing 1996 Grand Final and were there in 2000.
Plus, a new coach in Tony Micale, after Kevin Worthington's fourth year was nowhere near as effective as his first three, obviously helped get the best out of these players who'd produced some pretty good footy between 1996 and 1998.

Yep some "massive" outs there Smokey....no doubt all those EF outs would be walk up starts at every other WAFL club....because realistically that is what defines a "big out" eh?

Yep and you managed to pick up a 2nd stringer from WP to replace one of those 2nd stringers. Pity you couldn't snare a 1st stringer in Rohan Kerr who chose to go to EP instead.

Who is the 2nd stringer from Joondalup? When you say Kerr chose to go to East Perth instead do we know if East Fremantle were interested or actively pursuing him?
