South built theirs in the 60s.

"people on here" bleat on about your club because it has exclusive access to AFL matches every week of the season to take money and that is to the exclusion of every other club
and that is at a ground you were paid a lot of money to leave from and don't play matches on during the season.
no other club has that luxury

Every other club was offered the same deal but didn't have a social premises at the ground where they could offer a pre-game guest speaker, lunch and half time drinks so couldn't make it work. That's not Subi's fault...that's just a fact of life...get over it. When they play sheila's AFL games at Freo Oval does Souths share the bar receipts with the other WAFL clubs? I think not.

Just run me past that again? Every other club was offered the chance to host AFL games at their clubs and functions at their grounds? Thats news to me.

Every club was offered seats to AFL games at Subi. Some looked at having functions offsite and bussing guests to and from the ground but in the end it got all too hard and not cost effective. Subi was the only WAFL club fortunate enough to have a social premises in situ...the rest is history. It's not the club's fault they had a social premise at their home ground of 100 years.

I'd suggest it's probably tainted by your obvious dislike of my club but it's irrelevant anyway as the fact remains Subi had a valid lease and was compensated when they agreed to move before it expired. The WAFC could have let the lease run it's course and Subi would have had to move elsewhere at it's own cost but that didn't happen.

In deed , in fact the journey of time now tells us that had the WAFC had left Subi at Subi ( which I think they should have ) , the years would of past and the new stadium arrived meaning Subi would of had to handle their own relocation and negotiations to move with the Subiaco Council, becuase Im pretty sure that is who they leased from, I went for a bike ride past there the other day to check out the site, the entire thing is gone bar a few rows of wood benches on the railway side and the old gates, and the Subi Social and Squash club sign post, and that got me thinking wtf happened to that building in terms of land etc, did it just get abandoned, becuase Im pretty sure Subi still operated it right up till the death knell. Any quids change hands for that?

Christ that sounds really practical, what a ridiculous proposition and a very convienant freak of history having your home ground end up as league head quarters, which makes you wonder why Subi was such a financial and on the field basket case for most of its history until the 80s.

Exactly right Baz. I guess the WAFC didn't have a crystal ball back in 2002/3 when the deal with Subi was negotiated...but in hindsight they could have let the lease run out and it would have cost them SFA. The proceeds of that deal went towards funding the building of new social premises and player amenities at Leederville. I'm not sure what happened in relation to the old social premises financially but your are correct, it provided a revenue stream right to the end.

Yep and you managed to pick up a 2nd stringer from WP to replace one of those 2nd stringers. Pity you couldn't snare a 1st stringer in Rohan Kerr who chose to go to EP instead.

Who is the 2nd stringer from Joondalup? When you say Kerr chose to go to East Perth instead do we know if East Fremantle were interested or actively pursuing him?

Mills

Playing in 4 finals in 2018 including the GF is not bad for a 2nd stringer. It would appear Bill can get the most out of Mills - who found his replacement at Joondalup on the nose. Actually come to think of it a bit like Leggett, Ninyette and Bennell at Perth with your coach. Considering Perth won just 4 of their last 13 games last year, probably quite a few others too.

How do you play 4 finals in one season? Anyway pretty sure I read somewhere, can’t be bothered looking for the stats, that he’d only played about 20 or 30 league games in about 6 or 7 years at WP. I’d say that puts him the 2nd stringer category.

Very true about Mills and his game to year ratio....no doubt Billy believes he will be an adequate replacement, if needed to replicate the feats of some of those EF second stringers who have moved on....tho in some folks eyes all those EF outs are top 22 campaigners....big outs apparently!!

We are only going on your wraps on the potential of some of those that have departed of their own accord Freezin. Yet you guys make out as though Bubblo Bill has wielded the axe and had a clean out. I guess that’s a convenient way of justifying a 5 win season for a proven premiership coach. Lol

Do you have any proof or evidence this seats deal at Subiaco Oval was offered to every WAFL club BC?
I spoke to a WAFL club official from that time and he has no recollection that was ever the case.

I could do some research BH but quite frankly it's a topic which has been done to death and I can't really be bothered. I recall it being in the press and other club's throwing up possible scenarios to take advantage of it including using Kitchener Park bowling club behind Subi Oval and also buses but in the end nothing was viable. Should Subi have given other clubs an opportunity to share their social premises and the monetary windfall??? probably but that was the decision by the club at the time.
