mate the sickest joke is that despite billions of dollars since 1987 - three of those clubs you indicated are still basket cases and would disappear entirely if the handouts stopped (which won't while McFuckwit is in the seat propping up them & the Gold Coast Crackpipes)

Its a trend that is not unique to WAFL. Ask anyone from the 70's, 80's, 90's about how people gathered at amateur football clubs and immersed themselves in those communities and how it has declined since. I think it's a social trend where we all have so many choices now and unless your offering is top notch, it will decline. Not to mention that our sense of "community" has deteriorated over decades - people just don't join clubs, unions, churches, volunteer groups like they used to. Compounded by the WAFL's patchy TV/media coverage, debatable quality and modest investment, its standing in our community nowadays is hardly surprising. I can't see a feasible way forward for the WAFL comp unless there is some T20-style disruption.

Yep, look at Sheffield Shield. It’s mostly a better standard than international cricket (hence the majority of Aussie batsmen having higher international averages than shield averages) but people just don’t go anymore

I was thinking the grandkids or maybe even kids of those in the photo probably don’t even know what those jumpers mean. How the hell did things change so much so quick... I miss those days ?

I know, I just can’t get my head around how people jumped off the WAFL so quickly and finally. Why? For me it would have been like cutting my arm off. It is a part of who i am. I am a bit embarrassed when I meet a wce or freo supporter in their 50s, 60s. It’s not like you can truly ‘go’ fir a side when you are 20 or 30 when they start up. Something wrong with you for mine.
I too cry about what we have kicked to the kerb so needlessly and thoughtlessly. Sheep.

Don’t want to be insulting stt, but what a crock of crap. You get embarrassed when you meet an afl supporter in their 50’s or 60’s? I think I’d be embarrassed to meet a narrow minded person such as yourself. Something wrong with with me because I support an afl side? Fukn spare me!!! What’s it like sitting up top in the judge’s chair looking down on everyone???

Beasley Hutton wrote: Those flogs were obviously not real supporters fellas, no real supporter in their right mind just walks away from their club and competition overnight!
Mind you having every budgies and dorkers games live on TV from the get go has worked perfectly for those particular theatre goers!

So I’m a “flog” because I support an afl team? Were you one of the people on this forum that criticised others because they changed their alliance from a Vic club to the Eagles or Dockers?
Another one sees theirself sitting up in the lofty cloud.
