Problem sounds like they been sitting on there hands and not raised any money to pay there bills. If Joondalup can guarantee large money, change the name. If they can not, surely the Board have to stand aside and let others who are more capable take over.

I think more of case well done to the donor who forked out 50k a week ago to pay outstanding player and coach payments, what that indicates is that the players were at the point of walking out if they didn't get some cash.

Thanks for the heads up DD, although I did spit out my coffee when Gavin Taylor started talking about the "integrity of the WAFL competition"

In terms of the integrity he was coming from was , having a comp with a mid season additional by caused by the team sitting second no longer taking the field, because that was about 1 week away from happening. the 250k handed over by the WAFC has prevented that.

WP have had a vaporising supporter base in last few years, and the callers that called into the radio today didn't sound to impressed with the way things had gone.

some other interesting points raised this morning on supporters.

Gareth Parker has established that , smaller donations and sponsorship had collapsed in recent years.

Also the accountant that called in after, about the "undisclosed debts" , he stated they can only be two things.

1. Invoices received that were never recorded he said that would be a breach of accounting duties.

or

2 casual debt payment agreements entered into that are now being followed up on by those that had been promised repayment.

he's probably right but that sounds like fairly ad-hoc sort of stuff not $600k's worth....or closer to $1m I think you put it at. That's a big chunk of change for a sporting club that probably only turns over a couple of mill in any given year.

Umm shouldn't WP be docked their points this season for going into administration. Has to be some sort of punishment for tarnishing the comp in such a breathtaking way.

We Perth supporters are desperate to see some September action STT but that is stretching it a bit too far. If they were found to be guilty of salary cap or points breaches then fair enough, but you can't penalize a club for going broke by disqualifying what they have achieved on the field.

Changing to Joondy Falcons makes sense to me...in fact, not changing doesn't make any sense to me...it's a bit like South Melbourne moving to Sydney and keeping their name.

WP wont be going anywhere so don't worry about that.. I agree the name does need to be changed to Joondalup Falcons then at least half of the debt will be cleared straight off the bat. Getting the members to vote in favour though is the problem. WP wouldn't be in this position if the name was changed & certain high up people at the club weren't there a few years ago..
