Have just seen this write up...
WAFL commits to Saturday night Grand Final concept
The West Australian Football League has committed to scheduling a future Saturday night Grand Final following an extensive consultation process with WAFL clubs and stakeholders.
WAFC CEO Gavin Taylor said that after assessing feedback from clubs, fans and other stakeholders, the strong support for a Saturday night Grand Final meant it would be high on the agenda for 2017.
“The WAFC, in partnership with the WAFL, is committed to the Saturday night Grand Final concept and exploring all options to ensure this comes to fruition in the future,” Mr Taylor said.
“We want to showcase the WAFL Grand Final by maximising both attendance at the game and the television audience and strongly believe a Saturday night Grand Final will deliver this opportunity.
“Working with our stakeholders on how we can bring this to life in 2017 will be a priority when we commence building the 2017 WAFL fixtures.

Could Gavin Taylor please outline to whom did he speak vis avis feedback from the fans and on what possible basis can he say that a night WAFL GF will maximise attendance at the game? I seem to recall that the reason given for the dismal attendance at the 2014 WAFL GF was the wet weather. What would the crown have been if it had been a night GF?

Once again we have Channel, West Coast Eagles, Seven dictating the schedule of WAFL games. Is it possible that those who supposedly are responsible for the WAFL ACTUALLY start doing that. Just imagine what wouLd happen if they did start to look after the interests of the WAFL and its clubs, players, members and supporters.

I'm all for moving the GF back to Saturday even if it is an evening game, say a 6pm start time, could then have the colts game at around midday on the Saturday so those poor old AFL recruiting officers don't have to get up too early.

A Saturday GF allows for a good wind up afterwards and it can continue into the sunday rather than having to face work the next day as it is now.

Yep agree mate, that would be ideal, however due the mind boggling madness of new afl fixturing, there are 2 good things for wafl, 1, next weekend is afl free giving wafl oxygen in week 1 of finals, and 2 ,the Afl October GF now leaves the September long weekend free for Wafl., meaning a sunday GF has good celebration time afterwards.

Taylor and the WAFC need to back up comments with some facts instead of using sweeping statements. Day final or twilight final for me
