When out and out champion players and champion blokes like Rioli have to wait so long to be recognized, then Cousins will have to wait 50+ years before being recognized. WA's greatest ever full forward Austin Robertson had to wait 40 years before being inducted even after he played a couple of seasons in the VFL so was known a bit over there.

Well trying to say, "most attention" goes to the assumed leading comp, of which the VFL was. I could say having resided the equal amounts in BOTH states, that Vics dont have an us v them attitude that pervades here. I notice when a WA sportsman does well overseas it on the news is WA ( insert name) does well etc etc. I have always found a lot of WA people have huge chips on their shoulders at times. If Vics are like septics, then WA must be the home of the rednecks eh

And just to top off a complete fark up from the Vic centric AFL in the recognition to all those that have passed in the last 12 months since the last AFHOF night they unbelievably left out the late Ken Judge!

I am so glad that Maurice's young fella and Dean spoke glowingly about Souths and the work they did to get him down from the Territory.
So much praise is heaped on Kevin Sheedy as the soul of the brothers, but he was a late come compared to some of the WAFL clubs. The WAFL clubs should be praised for their part in bringing the Aboriginal part of our game to the fore.

A/man Long obviously was speaking to the VFL connection. However, and it is a big however, G Whateley was responsible for speaking to Maurice's entire career. What he singularly failed to do was to give any credit or credence to his WAFL career.
