Don't forget the umpires' friend Fred Woods. Speaking of Frank Sparrow the best footy caller.

I have to say that the Bassendean crowd were very humble & paid respect in their recognition of TI that game from memory

Big Ron Boucher made a point of shaking TI's hand after the game as did most of the Swans boys

Those were the days Southerner. Alas, we will never get them back. However, if the WAFC actually started making decisions which were beneficial to the WAFC competition rather than detrimental ones we could slowly build up the supporter base for the WAFL.

Southerner if we make the finals this season will you be an honorary Swan for the finals?

Mate I've had Swan Districts close to home ever since the Mayor Johnny Coooper pulled the biggest single masterstroke Bassendean will ever see in signing up the great SF prodigy John Todd to take you guys into the modern era !

Yep hope you guys can somehow make it into September

Great to have you on board Southerner, particularly given your recent modest statement that you have the biggest. ...................passion on this site :P

Mikeh of course we have a connection with Frank at Swans. In terms of his ability as a footy caller I think T Turner expressed it the most accurately:

simply the best.

We had a huge banner, it sure was a big day, Swan I do not think those days will ever be back , its impossible to see any conceivable way back were we get 20,000 at a surburban wafl game.

No mate , I guess wp if anyone, hope for a wp v ep gf. Might even go. Sf a chance for reserves flag.

The ABC televised the WAFL back in the early 80s along with Channel 7 and also had a Saturday Night panel show reviewing the games with the likes of Mike McCann, Vukman, Cometti, Brayshaw, Dorrington et al

Brillliant stuff Southy ...another couple of quips I remember fondly from Frank in the early 80s were-
"And it is Swans like the charge of the light brigade coming out of defence"
"And the goal umpire says she looks good enough for me"

Classic stuff from the late great Franky Sparrow. :)

I am not suggesting Swans fans have a mortgage on passion and every club has its passionate supporters in different forms. I was merely replying to your 'circle jerk' comment to say that the discussion since the weekend about Swans fans were sparked by a Claremont supporter making an observation about how great the atmosphere was there. If you want to get all defensive and precious about it, your choice.

Thought he was a demon?

In the interview he STATED he was a Claremont supporter.[/quote]

Thanks my mistake I was thinking of Clint Wheeldon.
