When Percy disagrees with my views on football I think he is an codger stuck in the past and we should put him out to pasture.

That pretty much sums it up, He is right about the host club deal, but its stating the blinding obvious, I remember his rants on Ch 7 in the 70's and 80's , I think that was after about 3 clubs had sacked him as coach, Claremont, SF and WP.

Evidence of his mad as an old womens shit like brain is the fact he spends the eopening minutes of the interview singing the praises of the dockers, (including attacking a critic of them on a personal basis) and how they are so great a WA team..then goes on a rant about the alignment - something this so called great WA institution instigated. In other words he is fuil of it.

John K Watts, Steve Marsh, George Griller and just about everyone else used to take the piss out of him.

I remember he rang up George G one morning out of the blue and they had a huge barney, George G took him apart.

Meet the bloke nice enough fella, but fair dinkum you take him with a pinch of salt and a bit of a giggle.

Perhaps LB you should talk to some of the Swans' players he has helped in recent years to see if they think he is "totally disconnected". PJ is a true legend of the game and deserves a great deal of respect from anyone who loves the WAFL or indeed Aussie Rules. That he is still willing to provide any assistance he can to developing young footballers is something to be admired. In a contest between LB and PJ I know who I would respect and I would humbly suggest that would be the same as most on that forum. Alas and alack the person would not be LB.

yeah no worries Swan thats great , but the FACT remains he was an epic failure as a league coach.

All the obvious things, EP being infiltrated by Pro players juxtapposed to WAFL clubs running part timers, EP now having all sorts of resources medical rehab, trainers, extra WCE cameras at games the assist in Triubunal hearings that WAFL clubs do not have. Said it completely stuffs the balance of the comp up and that any win by EP will be hollow and we will be having the same conversation next year and the year after that...

I 'll always remember when he did the Saturday Morning Footy Show with Gary Carvolth in the late 80's , it was at the time of the advent of the Eagles, He said this Eagles Thing better work, because if it doesnt we are stuffed, they have hit the WAFL doing this and if it fails we will all be in trouble.

Well he was half right, it killed the WAFL, but the WCE have gone on to be a huge success on and off the field, the bit he got wrong was the WAFL was screwed regardless.

the only hope i see bazza is if home grown EP kids see that opportunities are limited at WART and drop off like flies to other clubs. that could leave WART undermanned in future years and its domination may only be a temporary thing this year on the back of playing in last years GF. i guess we can look no further than FART to see that an alignment with a weak club doesn't guarantee success...so hopefully when the current crop of very good non-aligned players who made up most of last years GF side such as Smith, Johnson, Cadwallader et al start to move on and/or retire WART will come back to the pack.
