You guys hit the nail on the head there, but hey LH - I reckon I have told you my theory of the WAFC being determined to destroy the WAFL as we know it so the AFL can rush in and save us....!!!!

Yes my old man reckons the same. Except that nobody will save us. Ressies gone, league gone....TAC Cup style 19's comp all that remains not even with WAFL club names but with names like Eastern Eagles.

Luckily I'll be long gone by then and won't have to witness it.

I dont think you will be long gone LA. Mate the AFL will be working to a timeline and I assure you it will be a short time line.. As I have previously mentioned they are doing it via Stealth.. 5 years tops would be my estimate if not sooner. :(
It pisses us off but there is nothing we will be able to do about it

Nothing would surprise me fellas when it comes to the AFL & WAFC on the whole 18's subject as both couldnt run a bath!
I am still astonished both parties allowed WA players like Swallow, O'Meara, Hogan, Matera, Martin, Ugle, Tunbridge et al to be taken away interstate as priority 17yo's and thus missing the next season of State 18's and no doubt in my mind costing WA at least 2 winning titles that went to bloody Vic Metro!

LH why are some clubs so keen to fast track youngsters than others? Whilst I know it is a development decision, do the recruiters pay anymore attention to a kid dominating at colts level to one holding their own at league or reserves level? Logic suggests the latter, but clubs like EF & Cl who seem to get a lot of players drafted each year seem reluctant to promote these kids compared to SD or Subi who get less drafted but promote more youth through the grades. EF had Cripps, Jansen, Marsh,Allirr,Paparone, Marsh,Simpson and Howson drafted over the last 2 years with none of them playing league.

Is that an intentional strategy by EF to keep these kids in the recruiters eyes by dominating at a lower level, instead of just contributing and not standing out as much. Years ago EF played Kennedy, Clark, Lucas, Cripps, Fasolo,Sheppard,Swallow x2, Masten and Palmer in the league side whilst colts eligible......havent done it for years......Cl the same with Hogan, Martin, Weedon, Neates etc.......is it something these clubs feel a way of ensuring their kids get drafted over others?

I'm not sure mate.

Most WAFL clubs are so dependent on the draft money that they will do what the AFL clubs want.

I'll get in trouble for saying this but Subi don't help themselves at times by not playing their x-factor kids often enough - particularly their indigenous kids. The scouts would notice those kids.

Yeah thought that re: doing what AFL clubs want, pisses me off seeing youngsters getting held back, especially if the league is struggling, these kids can add some vibrancy to the league set up.....plus from a fans perspective its great watching youngsters throwing themselves around with little fear. Unfotunately EF dont seem to have any standouts other than Perry or Snadden playing well enough for even a reserves gig......really thought Cripps, Marsh and Jansen should of played league last year.......definitely Paparone and Simpson the year before.

Whatever happened to that Cl youngster from up north who was a draft certainity a couple of years back......last thing I read about him he was kicking 10 goals a game in the NT league last year......CHF type, very skinny though.
