not sure about that, the percentage of 19 year olds playing colts wont be that great as most club will still push up the 18 and 19 years olds to league and reserves if they are good enough unless of course they would rather win a colts flag.

Not if the NAB 18's becomes the NAB 19's like I've been told it is being proposed.

And that's the key to this whole proposal.

The idea is to push back the development process by one year in every respect.

Starting with the 16's becoming the 17's.

Colts changing from 16's to 18's to 17's to 19's.

The NAB 18's championships changing to the NAB 19's championships.

And finally the draft age going up by one year in conjunction with that.

it sounds a bit strange that the WAFL and SANFL clubs would also agree not to let kids aged 17 and above to push up to senior footy as it would then decrease the quality of league and reserves football so i'll wait and see the final story on this.

It is strange indeed.

It may not even go ahead. A long way to go.

Apparently there is some resistance from certain parties.

I know former St Kilda player Nathan Burke is pushing for it pretty hard though.

Actually, I'm not sure they have much choice or say in the matter.

well they have a choice now and I cant see that being removed, if it is we may as well get rid of the WAFL and just have a colts comp if WAFL and SANFL clubs are not allowed to pick their best available sides apart from when the state 18/19's comp is on.

Mate, don't give the AFL any ideas. That's probably their long term goal.

it wont happen in SA or Victoria - they love their footy at all levels over there, who knows about the WAFL though.
