I agree with S42, this is just a mickey mouse rubbish comp, these guys should be playing in Perth and concentrating on their school/studies etc. As Gerard Neesham says the draft is a joke and the drafting age should be increased

raise the draft age?....these guys are farken 18 yrs old....old enough to pay taxes, drink, drive, vote, join the forces and go to war ridden places like Afghanistan, Iraq etc...but they are too young to play football!!

...funny thing is you want all the SD kids to play anywhere but Freo and WCE because they would be playing for EP or Peel.....which means they have to LEAVE Perth, their families/friends and go live 1000's of miles away......all because they would be playing against SD for Peel or EP....FMD make up your mind.....stay in Perth or leave Perth....

......playing football is a piece of piss.....no shift work....no 12-15 hr days.....no nights.....no farkin deadlines.....

Would be wall to wall scouts and it has a lot to do with the Drafting process.
I find it strange that Neesham would say something like that.. I suppose his boys just played water polo in WA and jumped straight to a higher level..
I remember him in an interview where he put shit on WA Government or a council as they changed the venue of a Water Polo tournament... But thats digressing

Sadly the proposed increase in the draft age is in conjunction with an increase in the age of the colts competition and thus an increase in the age players start their colts football. So fans won't get to see their home grown stars at league level anymore than they do now.

I'm guessing that 16's development squad will change to 17's development squad and most players will begin colts after that.

Still, it's just a proposal at this stage.
