Grump I have noticed in the past few weeks that looking at the team lists of the club formerly known as East Perth that there is not one player listed in colts, reserves and league from Ellenbrook. Given the size of the Ellenbrook Club and the number of players who were coming through at Swans from Ellenbrook why are there no players from Ellenbrook in any of the grades at their currently aligned WAFL club?

Not sure why, I don't pay attention to where they are from once they get to colts or development, just that are there and playing for the team still called EP and playing the game as EP. I do know from others that like most of our region the numbers at 16's and 17's are slim at best, but that maybe an opinion or a fact depending on who is telling the story!

Michael Rimbas is on the East Perth Reserves list but unfortunately has an arm injury at the moment. He is acting as the Reserves runner.

And I wouldn't say that from the 2013 Bouncedown magazine and 2013 Football Budgets, there is an overwhelming number from Ellenbrook at Swans either, considering they were at Swans for a longer period of time than have been currently at East Perth.

1-Ryan Vanvught (Bouncedown Magazine)
2-Benjamin Holman (listed in Bouncedown as being recruited from Guildford Grammar.)

We have certainly had more than two players who have played colts from Ellenbrook. I presume, similar to when Belmont moved to East Perth, that Swans were only allowed a very small number to be quarantined from the transfer.

If you would like further names I perhaps can look through some budgets from yesteryear.

and the point of this is ......

especially in the alignment folio, mmm, I suppose that there is a link between EP, Ellenbrook and the alignment,

I know your are bored and dredging previous issues to keep yourself amused.

Grump The point is that I think it would be appropriate if the WAFC returned Ellenbrook and the other two junior clubs back to Swan Districts.

The other point is that I believe there has been a disconnect between the Ellenbrook Junior players and East Perth and this disconnect would be resolved on return of Ellenbrook to Swans.

What are the "other two" junior clubs? Beechboro JFC was the only other Club moved with Ellenbrook JFC to East Perth in the last re-distribution. And they were originally East Perth anyway having been moved to Swans in the previous re-distribution when East Perth gained Landsdale (now Kingsway) from Soobie.

And why should the WAFC give back Junior Clubs to Swans when they announced prior to the last re-distribution that they were prepared to give them up in the hope of gaining areas from the North of the State. Something which did not happen and not East Perth's fault.

And they only made up for the loss of Landsdale back to Soobie in the same re-distribution.

Yeh well all this talk. Bottom line EP and Peel wont need Junior clubs to move through their ranks to gain players anymore! They will just get the champion juniors from other clubs once they are drafted to Eagles and Dockers.
Another reason why the alignment is crap.

Might as well re distribute the Junior clubs to the G7 clubs so the kids can have a chance of a future at League level and better?

Really cardy, EP will always have a need for a reserves and colts and thus a junior zone, at best there will only be 8 or 9 WCE players in the team and if Moron is anything to go by some won't even make it into the ressies.

I cannot understand why some folks just can't leave it alone and see what develops, maybe your wish will come true, may be not but in the mean time just lets play WAFL football and stop being a bunch of sooks abt something that has been proven to be beyond our control or influence.

Have a great weekend and with any luck you will be still be on top and win the April premiers flag.

have a good one!

swan42, re ellenbrook and beechboro with EP, maybe you should go and ask the ellenbrook committee why their oldest team entered in the competition last year was Year 9s.
They claimed that they couldn't get a team up in Year 10s, 11s or 12s. Pretty big area with 3 big high schools for that result isn't it?? You might find that their committee was pretty disfunctional in 2012.
To their credit, a new committee seems to be doing a good job of it this year.
Ellenbrook have very few playing with Swans as well as EP, so why point the finger at the alignment. Have a look at how many ellenbrook kids are in the EP development squads - heaps. Surely that says something???
As for beechboro, they were a basket case of a club when EP inherited them from Swans and they remain so. Credit to EPFC for working hard with both clubs to get a better outcome.
