Can imagine a lot of SF fans attending the AC celebrations....last place they would go to is Optus to watch the footy...LOL

Geez, everybody here is awfully quick to forget that the WAFC's original plan for this year's GF was to have it the week after the AFL GF, only for the clubs to bitch and moan and force them to change it back to where it is now!

Any idea what the reason was ?

Hate to tell you mate but know a few EF people chosing the AC day over Optus, easier to get to and entertainment better, I'm afraid the WAFL just doesnt have the same impact these days, most are now dockers tragics now anyway, a bit hard for you to garner I guess being in NZ.

There were a couple of reasons, Optus was actually unavailable for the date the WAFC wanted (October 7) and the WAFL clubs objected to the season being extended from 18 to 20 rounds.
Also the grand final is now on the Sunday of the long weekend giving the players a chance to celebrate/recover on the Monday. Being a long weekend there are always going to be other activities to tempt people but I still think there will be a reasonable crowd there

Sounds like with the WAFL not being what it used to be Bazza, you would  even choose the Bondy celebrations, over watching SF playing in the GF this year, if they were in it.

The WAFL ain't been the same since WCE in 87 and definitely lost its mojo when Freo came on the scene after EF GF win in 94.....what will be will be.
