Apparently over the course of the qualifying rounds so far, approx 7 matches have pulled a crowd of under 600 people! That is simply terrible!
And 5 to 10 more matches have attendances shown of 600 to a thousand. Given the population of the metro area, crowd figures like that is very bad!
Pity crowd figures we saw from the opening round of the season (over 14 thou) could not be replicated on a weekly basis. Qualifying round attendances would jump to approx 250 thousand to 290,000 per season. Wouldn't that be fantastic.

Opening round always tended to be good, no idea why this year was highish, but regardless of that the collapse has been dramatic.

2595 at the Derby
1930 at Leederville
Pretty much that's the standard nowadays.

A little bird told me the total qualifying round attendance figure for 2023 is in danger of being lower than last season. Certainly hope that gets proved wrong!
Apparently the 8 WAFL clubs are supposedly having a meeting sometime this year to try and resolve WAFL problems and issues. Low crowd numbers is high on the list.

The derby crowd is really interesting. Last season the WA day derby attracted 6,000 to Fremantle Oval when the stars aligned. This year fixturing the game on the same day and time the Dockers were playing, a little bit of drizzle about the place and of course Souths now being battlers contributed to only 2500 bothering to show up. Pity as it was the best derby in 7 years!

2595 is about 595 more than I expected tbh. WA Day was a dud this year playing at the WACA.

Across the board numbers down big time.

Yep well on track for the lowest attendances on record, the derby was the last chance for a big boast - that wont happen now,

With the battle for the top 5 long done , not much interest with that, and EP are the only club in finals that could pull a crowd.
