Crowds are up about 10% according to Wa Footy facts which is fantastic. It is also great because the WA Day crowds were well down because it was the wettest day of the year. South’s crowds average also down on last year because of the low WA Day crowds. East Perth’s crowds are well up as is Swans.

Allen just wondering how you work that out ...

Up till round 13 last year it was just over 99,000.

This year just over 94,000.
Don't forget last year was also still Covid Affected in that a lot of infection was still getting around.

No, is sad to say crowds are not up on last year. Heard from a reliable source after week 10, attendances are down by approx 3000 from the corresponding round of last season.. The season started well with good crowds but dropped away after the first month.
Having said that, will be interesting to see if attendances improve in the remaining fixtures.

Last years numbers were grossly inflated by the Foundation Day Monday Public Holiday crowds in good weather, the same day this year was played in dreadful conditions!

doubt that , with 5 teams out of contention including SF which means the last derby which is a trad big puller wont be much, had both SF and EF been in finals contention would of been good, Swans out of it means they drift away quick. On top of that with Peel in the top 5 that will drag numbers down further.  So will end up well down on last year.

Have a look at this weekends rounds.

P v SF - Cellar dwellers battle lucky to pull 1500
WCE v WP - as above
SD v Subi - nup
EF v Peel - OK game but Peel don't pull
C v EP game of the round - might do OK.

there was also an unusually high opening round attendance this year not sure of there reason , did some clubs have a junior day?

Also this week the EF v Peel game is being played in Geraldton, so who knows how many will turn up for this.

I went to a Subi v Sharks game in Geraldton not that many years ago & the crowd was tiny. I couldn’t find any promotion of it anywhere locally at the time. So I hope they have improved that as it deserves a big crowd.

Crowd numbers at regional games began to collapse a long time ago, country people are pretty much all AFL now, Fox Footy and Kayo digital/able TV changed at lot before they only had access to local WAFL or limited AFL on Ch 2 and so on, but now its AFL all weekend long.

I think it was East Fremantle v's Claremont match which was held in Broome maybe 7 weeks ago. Attracted a crowd of only 500 people from what i heard. Wouldn't be worth conducting any activity there. Difficult to predict the attendance for the upcoming Geraldton game.
