Southerner, you may be right and will galvanise the playing group in an us v them frame of mind. I recall the West coast fever girls were penalised 4 games worth of points and went on to make or nearly make their finals, so maybe a bit of a call to arms. You feel for the players and the general SF punters who have to carry the burden of an incompetent admin. The very quick acceptance of the penalties by the SF board might indicate they dont want any more questioning which may uncover facts they don't want made public. If as you say it was a simple missed tick in a box, the penalties are disproportionate and should be a fine and reduced cap. Taking points is extreme, maybe if you'd breached the cap like the Melbourne storm did by millions, they lost a full season of points and 2 premierships.
The club was in the lead-up to the season in 2 weeks time so a hand grenade like this one might see a pretty busy week getting to what the WAFC want
I have a feeling we'll be going in with fewer list spots it's just Jordan Gallucci's point situation that could make some Raspberries but I guess we'll all find out in the next week

Interesting that the WAFC only audited the 2 GF teams. Subi obviously no issues but why not audit all finalists or why not the whole comp. I know it's expensive but we need a level playing field in this regard especially after Peel and Joondy have got away with financial murder.

mate when you ask yourself does it really matter if there is an audit or who it is upon , every time you'd come out with yeah no problem if it meant errors are found it's what they're for
SF admin have made one

If I was the club boss I would forfeit the season.

Great idea. Take you bat and ball and go home when it gets too tough. That's the Family Club way isn't it?

Take those other cheating flogs West Perth with you as well so the rest of us can get on with a fair competition.

Your last 3 comments were putrid, remind me, who do you support ???

Did all clubs get a warning from the WAFC recently that this would be what they can expect for cap breaches or have they just pulled this out of a hat. As others have said how Peelmantle have gotten off so lightly after 2 serious breaches hints of a two sets of rules situation.
SS, the WAFL CEO this morning on 91.3 stated that all the clubs participated and signed off on the penalties in 2014, when was the Peel incident ?

Yes! cheating is a sad inditement on any competition but how many instances of cheating has the WAFL had in the last 30 years, a couple of drug cheats, a couple of salary breaches and one corporate trading breach.

There are no more than in many other competitions around the world and Australia.

I reckon they have been busted and penalised but the penalty does not match the culture of the WAFL.

SS your comments abt Subiaco are well said but I reckon most of us were just annoyed at the Subi Oval issue which place most other clubs at a disadvantage, it seems that you may be coming back from the advantageous situation you were once in!
Grump...apologies for taking this off topic and I acknowledge Subi's seat arrangements has been done to death but I guess I'll draw an EP analogy of when you vacated Perth Oval for soccer and rugby... if the powers that be said you could buy not be given for free but buy 500 tickets to the Glory and Western Force games and utilise your social premises under the grandstand to offer corporate packages, wouldn't EP have jumped at the chance?
BC, good point and its fairly obvious that all clubs would take the offer in a heart beat, the issue with the $ubi deal it was mysteriosly extended from 5 years to 20 !!! It was also very handy that there were Ex $ubi people in the ivory tower to assist.

It’s hard to fathom the penalty without knowing the full details of the breach - if it’s as simple as an administrative error the penalty looks excessive.

There seems a real lack of transparency in the whole process and you have to wonder why.
