Did all clubs get a warning from the WAFC recently that this would be what they can expect for cap breaches or have they just pulled this out of a hat. As others have said how Peelmantle have gotten off so lightly after 2 serious breaches hints of a two sets of rules situation.

Absolutely Southerner but the Doggies should be fighting this gob smacking loss of premiership points which will stuff up themselves and bugger up the integrity of the competition. There have been a lot more serious breaches which have not been penalised by loss of points which should only be applied in extreme cases of cheating, not for " accidental admin error"
Fines would have been enough in this case surely.
SF could take this to court if necessary and have a strong case based on precedent.

Cheating is what fucks up the integrity of the competition

Yes! cheating is a sad inditement on any competition but how many instances of cheating has the WAFL had in the last 30 years, a couple of drug cheats, a couple of salary breaches and one corporate trading breach.

There are no more than in many other competitions around the world and Australia.

I reckon they have been busted and penalised but the penalty does not match the culture of the WAFL.

SS your comments abt Subiaco are well said but I reckon most of us were just annoyed at the Subi Oval issue which place most other clubs at a disadvantage, it seems that you may be coming back from the advantageous situation you were once in!
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

apologise for quoting you mate but just one question - would that be the same as Perth FC overpaying Chris Bossong and not declaring it to the WAFC at all ?
Now correct me please but I recall Perth FC only copping a fine which was diluted eventually

Yes it would. Cheating is cheating. Copped a massive fine at the time that seemed out of all proportion to the crime. You seem to be saying the same thing about Souths predicament.

I'll grant that what is curious is the inconsistency of the penalties with Peel's form and the wet lettuce leaf applied to colossal frauds like the Joondy Debt Dodgers but if you can work out how the WAFC works this shit out then you are doing better than me.

Mike the WAFC demanded the books when an audit more than two years later found an administrative error in lodgement of payment - there was no deliberate overpayment or evidence of any salary cap breach , the WAFC had to confirm that and have done so
Most of us are stunned at the penalty but also understand the mistake has been made and certain procedures have to be followed
It would also be understandable to get the same penalty as the other clubs previously not a different set like this

Southerner you seem to have inside information. So can you tell me why did the WAFC look at season 2021? Did they have reason to just focus o that year.

First of all , all relevant parties missed the reporting error initially , the WAFC conducts audits and I'd say no-one is really aware of how they do that or exactly when
This could have arisen out an audit of the WAFC itself by the State Govt too
But in statements released by SFFC and the WAFC clear us of deliberate salary cap breach  , and they are now legal statements

You are more trusting of the SFFC administrators than I mate. The CEO is one of the best spin doctors going around

All round very shoddy work by all in sundry. Surely someone internally needs to take the hit for this stuff up

Daz I'd be extremely bloody surprised if any club tried to break the salary cap these days or cheat as such - it is impossible to hide nowadays with technology the way it is
