Can't see SD finishing 2nd last....with Glass-McGasker back, allows Jones and Palmer to help Noble up front, probably will get ex WBD Brad Lynch back to strengthen their already talented midfield( Turner, Clarke, Fisher, Pina) with Anderson back from his ACL...Germs is a quality ruck, with help from Ireland...plus they have picked up another good small forward in McLachlan from the VFL too.....SD top four for me, have lots of tall options to swing back n forward, depending who is on and who is not.
Can’t argue your logic here Freeze, you know the players better than I do.  I guess I put Swannies down there to fit the others in. As I said, bottom few positions are so hard to pick.  Any of them could move into the 5.
I still think Perth will improve because the momentum of expectation could drive them.

Top 3 and bottom 2 pick themselves: EF, C, WP; WC and P. Sadly, I think P will be last by some margin. There is no way the recruits cover the losses. Only Manzone and Thompson present as ready made league players. Getting Bradtke, Stack and Narkle would make us more competitive, but not enough to avoid the spoon. Otherwise, we lost about 15 players from last season, and will be relying largely on players stepping up from our last and second last placed reserves and colts.

WC should be a little better, depending on injury, and Waterman should kick at least 40. EP have a very good midfield, especially with the addition of Crowden, but would seem to lack goal kicking and KPP options. SF won't be as bad as people think. Lost some key players, but Dragovich and Parker return alongside a core of good players like Schlensog, Florence, Strom, Miller and others. Subi look weak in the midfield, but Sokol and Borchet will always be hard to counter. SD should improve slightly, with Anderson back. Then there's Peel, whose reliance on the Dockers makes them hard to pick. So my ladder is:

EF
C
WP
SF
SD
PT
EP
S
WC
P
Subi look weak in defence also Ted

I may change this when closer to the start of the season depending on any late big recruits like for example the dees but atm

Joondy look stronger than last year and possibly another big signing apparently, should seal them back to back
Old easts may just steal it from joondy
Tiges a bit off the mark but still strong
Swans may finish above the tiges but I’ll stick with 4th
freo the scum that they are have too many good players to not make the 5 and could easily finish top 2 if things go their way
The bully’s still look ok to me and may make the 5
Royals for 7th but Subi may
Subi but may swap with the royals
Perth have lost too many good players despite their awesome off field line up, but if they do get those possible ins that are on afl tryouts they could finish above ferals and Subi and maybe even above souths
Wc wooden spoon

While I tipped WC for the spoon, there’s a chance they could move up a pozzie or 2.  They’ve got a heap of new kids that will be full of expectations and will be busting a gut to make the 1’s.  Be interesting to see.

Also Quinton Narkle is apparently going to play for Perth if not drafted.

Certainties to be in the hunt come seasons end
WP
East Freo
Claremont
Others competing for a finals berth
Swans (even with coaching change which is always an unknown)
Peel
Subi
Souths (player retirements will in part be offset by experienced gains)
Who will show something with new coaches and player changes
EP
Perth
and perhaps WCE

As for my club the changes in players and coaching could be a good step forward both off and, on the field, we really won't know much till the mid-point of the season but as always hope springs eternal just like 4 seasons ago.
