Another article about a well known problem with no real solution. Only one club needs to have zone altered and that is Claremont. Subiaco has had some recent success after being a basket case for a long time and now there is a real flow through of players into seniors which is they way it should be and will take away the need for recruiting which seems to be everyones issue. Perth need help to go the same direction.

Subi had "recent success?" Subi has been a pretty good side for 35 years now. Would be good if they could be given a bit more of a shot to try and compete against the competition dominating giant Claremont though that the wafc clearly has a favouring agenda for. Should we give some of Claremont's zone to our southern neighbours East and South Freo or our eastern neighbour poor old Subi or our northern neighbour West "broke" Perth?

As I have said before Tiger - it's a bit rough expecting players traveling too far from where they live. Would be silly to send someone from the western suburbs way up to Joondalup - Even EF too far.

It would be appropriate to give Subi Marist JFC and Subiaco JFC though. Of course Subi would then have to forward on clubs like Sorrento and North beach and Carine to the newly established Joondalup Hawkes.

People must see how this works but are choosing not too.

Subi and West Perth would hate it people.

Tigers wouldn't love it either i guess. But it is for the benefit of the WAFL
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Actually you are wrong TFAF. How do players get from Ellenbrook to Leederville, Byford to Fremantle, Baldivis to Fremantle, Canningvale to Moss St, Lesmurdie to Bassendean? It would be easier for a kid who lives in Claremont to travel to Lathlain than any of the above examples. Train to Perth on the Fremantle line then jump on the Armadale line (same line) to Victoria Park station.

Really the only clubs that exist in the heart of their zones these days is Claremont, West Perth and Peel. Silly they never put a train station at Joondalup Arena.

I dont disagree with most of those for time/distance but the bolded takes about 15 minutes DD as I have done it regularly down Kalamunda Rd!

I’m talking about colts players BH before they get their license who would be using public transport. But also in this day and age with so many rideshare options I know a lot of kids use rideshare to get to and from school so no problem using it to get to training and home after school.

DD and others you are right to point out that kids can and do travel long distances to get to futures and colts training  like - Ellenbrook to Leederville.

I am trying to suggest ways to Change the Pecking Order in a big way though and i firmly believe that the best way to do this is to spread out the talent in the West/North West metro region.

Another team in that region would dramatically affect Claremont, Subi and West Perth.

Having those teams dramatically affected would change the pecking order.

I haven't seen anyone say it's a good idea and to be honest am losing hope. But gee it would piss those 3 clubs off.

TFAF, you'd just be handing flags to the 2 freo's and weakening the connections between junior clubs and wafl clubs. Kids at least know a bit about the their wafl club and a new club would have no history, obviously, no soul,  and the standard of footy would be further weakened. We want the standard on wafl footy to go up, not down.

Alkimos, Eglington, Yanchep and Two Rocks are all going to be joined up with throngs of young kids wanting to play football.

If another team doesn't go up there WP, Subi and Claremont are going to be loving it.

Would be quite happy to see EF and SF dominate the next ten years. Better than the above 3 clubs.
