John XXIII as well

Not much can change in the zones, those areas will always be the Monts.

What can change is financial support and with that recruits from outside.

Not much can change with defeatist attitudes like your Bas, Subiaco back to Subiaco is an easy must.

Everyone stop being so negative about no chance of change.

Plenty of chance.

Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

If claremont ever get themselves a decent coach they will dominate as based on their colts it should translate to senior flags, something not right there as they are always contending

I think Subi would welcome Scarborough, Marist and Subiaco back where they belong.

There's nothing wrong at Claremont. They just lose a lot of players to the draft. they just need a Blackwell type or two to come back and they'll dominate again.

the key to wafl success is getting the delisted back to your club,  eg peter Bell,  kyle horsley,  Jordan Lokyer, Gus Dewar. For swans, it will be nic Nat and Cognilio

No doubt they would, apparently the subi colts and futures train at a dog park, im sure they would welcome access to a football oval which the current co-tenant situation doesnt allow for.

Looks like us coastal clubs are pretty happy with our lot and unlikely to give up much without a fight.   Perth and East Perth will have to recruit better, (Not sure why you have lumped us in there JL we seem to have been doing ok for a few years  at colts and ressies levels, league, well other more knowledgeable than I have the reasons for our less than inspiring  performance) work their zone harder or smarter (not easy to say the least, a bit of social engineering required) and run their clubs better (not saying they are run badly now but try something new, like more women on the board - a la Richmond, Western bulldogs or Melbourne.) I don't know, keep tinkering, keep experimenting.
We have a reasonable metro zone now with a far bit of regeneration happening, happens with older suburbs, and our country zone has once again produced so very good players this season and apparently next year is similar especially my toxicity is no longer an influence.
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

Just had in mind Grump that East Perth had a difficult zone to mine.  Great that it is bearing fruit. Your investments have paid off.

In my view any changes need to be long term structural plans such as zone reviews, salary cap rules etc and not just the knee jerk restrictions imposed on Subiaco in 2020 which made no real difference to their ability to finish on the top.

Mike the whole thing was bizzare and dare I say it inept from the WAFC but that is no surprise to us SD supporters.
Firstly if you were going to put restrictions on Subi why would you only place them for 1 year in which it was a Mickey Mouse 8 game season due to Covid in which Subi had a plethora of injuries so it really wasnt a great guide as to see if it had any long term effect or not.
I daresay if it was a normal 18 game season Subi would have eventually got players fit and made the finals at Perth's expense.
As it was/is these sanctions were lifted after the 1 Mickey Mouse year and they resumed their normal position for this century- top of the ladder after a proper home & away season and easy premiers.

If we are looking at a proper solution to this never ending Subi dominance with SF, CL & WP taking turns to be their bitch with the occasional flag thrown in for them when Subi get bored I reckon it might be in the best interests not to involve the WAFC in the final decision making. As lets face it they are all to a man/woman Western Suburbs domiciled SU, CL, SF & or WP supporters who know nothing outside of their own little well healed society and probably think football is booming in WA because the Golden Triangle clubs are continually going well!
