23000 at the 2008 grand final
ToO what was the attendance at the 2010 grand final?

Nearly 26000 I think

24,600.

Well I can tell you right now if the commission don't change their thoughts very quickly they better start praying for another boring old Subiaco v Claremont or SF grand final because if Perth or Swans have any part to play in the 2021 GF they are going have a big big problem on their hands.
Unfortunately, Lathlain Park Oval capacity would be too small for a Swans Perth final now, though maybe Perth could erect temporary stands on the outer wing.
I've never been interested in getting the GF at our ground even if we were on top and went through. The GF needs to be played at Optus and no where else. Simple as that. It is the new home of football and the grand final should be played at the premier stadium in Perth no ifs buts or maybe's. It is the reward for making the grand final and spectators deserve to be able to view the game in comfort, not standing in the outer in the elements or sitting on concrete or a grass bank.

Some years it turns a profit, some years a loss. Big farken deal.
DD if you thought I was referring to the WAFL GF you are very much mistaken.  It was a disgrace that last year's GF was at Freo and it would be a disgrace if the 2021 GF was played at Basso.   If you look at any of my posts on this subject my view is clear and unambiguous.

I was referring to a semi-final or preliminary final.  I believe that if Perth and Swans met in a preliminary final we would have an attendance well in excess of 10,000 and if it was a GF the attendance would be above 25,000.
Ahh ok S42 yes a Perth v Swans final would attract at least 6000 I reckon possibly more depending on a few factors. I believe Lathlain’s capacity at the moment is 6500. Will probably be less in a couple of years after the new premises are completed. Our grand old grandstand and everything under it is coming down at the end of the year.

Agree a Perth v Swans. GF would attract 25k plus. Even either of our teams in a GF against any of the 3 above us atm would attract a lot of nuetrals. I went to the 2008 GF if I’m correct when Swans made it through against Subiaco. Swans were never going to win but you had Naitanui, Walters and Chris Yarran in that side if I am correct and gave Subi a scare midway through the 2nd qtr pushing out to about a 5 goal lead. 30,000 plus there that day I reckon.

Your only about 7000 out.

Anyway capacity wont even be a problem with GFs away from Optus, as according to many of the posters on here they will boycott watching their own teams play in the GF if its played at a suburban ground.  :)

Hmmm so the only 2 GF's Swans have played in in the last 30 years got approx 25,000 and against 2 of the lower supported WAFL clubs (no offence intended CL & SU fans).
If we ever played the likes of Perth, EP, WP or SF in a GF I would think 30,000+ would be very achievable so it would have to be played at Perth Stadium!

So Swans attracted GF crowds of 23000 against a side that dominated the competition and 24600 against another poorly supported club. Well done. Imagine a Swans v Perth. Perth v EP, throw EF in there and we know WP are great front runner's they'll turn up.

I think you're on your lonesome on this one Baz. GF's in 2018 and 2019 attracted crowds of 25k and 19k respectively notwithstanding the dominance of Subi. Neither could have been accommodated at a suburban ground including a revamped Freo Oval. As stated before on this thread, get two of the bigger crowd pulling clubs in a GF and it will be a total shambles.

A derby GF would be the big puller - I guess it would just be a sell out at a revamped WACA or Freo and a boom profit wise for all concerned, doesnt the MCG sell it every year and even Optus for big events , yes sometimes people miss out.

Hey Swan your a greet Labor man and they have supreme power at the moment In the state , why don’t you get onto the labor sports minister and see what’s going on , surely them being the party or the people will guarantee a wafl GF at optus and underwrite payments equal to those participating clubs made at Fremantle Oval last year ? Given he has a permanent seat on the waflc board and power of veto:
What percentage of their salaries should I get for doing the WAFC and CEO jobs for them?

get onto Tony Butti he;s the minister responsible Swan get him to sort it.
How much will I be getting of their salaries to do their work for them?

You should also demand he put tax payer funds forward to underwrite the event at Optus to ensure all clubs make the same they would make at a suburban ground GF, see how you go with that, you know given we have a health system in crisis and all, I am sure it would go down well expenditure wise.

I also note not a single WAFL club has come forward and demanded the game be played at Optus,,,why is that Swan?
