Funny was just reading some Afl posts on the mid-season draft.The role of the Afl is to represent there competition+ clubs.And not give a flying f#ck about anything apart from AFLW.Afl has  a preference to the Melbourne clubs
Who sticks up or represents the Wafl competition.Its not the Wafc there a bunch on numpties.And  the Afl are planning secretly to start up the Afl reserves again.The Wafl+SANFL will be under 23 competitions by the Afl planning.
 

This decision is an absolute desecration of the only day of the year when the WAFL holds centre stage on  the WA sporting calendar,and descends the profile of the competition even further and all for the sake of saving a few shekels.For whatever reason my club missed out on a few recruiting targets this season,and next year when we make a pitch to entice a player over here who is also involved with talks with say a club like Glenelg from the SANFL  who probably play in front of 3 to 4 thousand a week and also provide the incentive of playing in a Grand Final in front of 30 to 40000 spectators at one of the country;s premier sporting facilities,we in return will offer this player an opportunity to play our showcase game in front of 10 to 15000 at an archaic and substandard WAFL suburban ground,i somehow reckon the player in question won't. be spending too much time sleeping on his decision.

Great post and this is the practical impact of this pathetically myopic decision from these frauds posing as the guardians of the game in this state.

There’s no doubt in my mind that the players would prefer to play at Optus.  I remember back in the late 70’s, we played a country championship GF at Subi.  I for one was so thrilled to be allowed to kick a footy at WA’s premier sporting arena. I’m sure our players of today would have the same feelings about playing at probably the best arena in the Southern Hemisphere.

That doesn't mean if a couple of teams or at least one who hasn't seen a grand final in a long time play off in a GF it isn't capable of attracting 20k plus. I guarantee you this, if this moron administration is locked in on the view the WAFL GF is not worthy of being played at the best venue in Perth and the country then the day will come when thousands of fans will be locked out and you bastards will be feeling the heat.

As long as they chardonnay set of WAFL clubs are cosy and enjoying success then that's all that matters and the rest can just make up the numbers so Townsend can write shit stories running down other clubs while his club enjoys a smorgasbord of endless talent. Why don't you get off your arse Townsend and write about how it's overdue for a shake up of zones for WAFL clubs as the evidence suggests a club like Perth are getting a raw deal?

I won’t be either and it really brings me to question why I should bother supporting my club and the WAFL at all because we all do it to be there on that ultimate day in September. If I can’t sit comfortably out of the weather, have first class amenities and catering services!if that’s too much for a WAFL supporter to ask who puts his heart and soul into barracking and supporting his or her club with all the passion I can muster then I will not be attending any grand final even if my team is in it and I will be making that point patently clear to Perth president Bob Shields when I see him next.

I've spoken to Bob, he lives in Freo and reckons Freo should be the new permamant revamped venue.

Did Bob also tell you he is involved in property development down Freo way so possibly has a vested interest? And is his personal friend Peter Christie (your president) also in property development down Freo way? Sounds more like a couple of swinging dicks shooting the breeze and looking after their own interests.

Maybe he is just more financially switched on that you sunshine, remember he played in the golden era of WANFL he knows its chalk and cheese now.

Unlike you as President he's faced with the financial realities of the WAFL 2021 and all that comes with keeping a club afloat, I guess the chance of your club and others getting a solid return on the day rather than doing their arses - something you sound like you would be good at.

btw, I hope SDFC put a good bid in I would love to see a GF up there esp with them in it.

STT Bazza must have had the mumps when multiplication was being taught. $25 x 20,000 = 500k minus 100k to Venues West leaves 400k. Yet here we have Bazza creaming his Levis over 250k profit.
