Grand final venue not such a big deal. Optus and Fremantle oval both good options. You may as well go with the profitable, sustainable option.

A sell out would be good for the league in some ways. Create a bit of buzz. Admit I've enjoyed the Subi finals at Optus, though the West Perth game was boring as bat shit. Colts and reserves were excellent.

Yeah what a marketing coup it would be for the WAFL if Perth made the GF and their long suffering fans couldn't get a ticket to the GF.

Was thinking the same swan.  It won’t happen, but what sort of crowd would roll up to an EFFC v Perth grand final?  I think it would draw a huge crowd.

When are Perth and east Freo ever going to play in a wafl grand final? Not enough coastal privilege.

Long suffering Perth and old east fans have a chance to go to the Wafl every week. No sign of the hordes.

The wafl can't live off one freak grand final every 30 years at Optus. It has to live and die by the average round and finals games. Its a suburban competition with historic suburban grounds. Should be true to itself. Play to its strength. Sold out 18 000 grand final at Bassendean would be great.  Standing room only.

East Freo's Twitter account says club has 2500 members. How does that compare to the other clubs?

I note that at the last east Freo grand final (vs Claremont) 18600 attended.

Wasn’t there 18,000 at the last GF at Optus in 2019 between your mob and SF which was probably the most one sided GF in WAFL history? Thanks for killing the WAFL due to your dominance and killing off the chance of other clubs playing a grand final at the premier venue in the state.

You have single handedly killed off interest in the WAFL as a spectacle due to your financial dominance and now that river of gold has finally stopped flowing in and other clubs are slowly catching up financially and have a chance to compete with $ubiaco when it comes to recruiting, suddenly you are happy for the status of WAFL grand finals to be reduced to Sunday League status and be played at any WAFL club home ground whoever stumps up the most cash in a bidding war and pack us in like sardines standing room only.

Meanwhile there’s a billion dollar stadium that is the showpiece of the state a bunch of fuckwits have decided we aren’t worthy of using. If the federal government can get off its arse and build purpose built quarantine facilities and all those selfish cunts holding off getting the vaccine change their ways so we can have a clear run at it and get back to normal and a few other WAFL clubs start finding their feet and we see a different looking top 4 or 5 sides instead of the same old Subiaco, SF, WP and Claremont year in year out dominating the top 4, then interest, passion and crowds will return.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

Not if you miss out on a ticket - and if you do manage to get one, not great if it decides to rain, or if you want a seat to sit in, or if you want something to eat or drink, or need to make a bowel movement at some point during the game or if you want to get in and out of ground in a reasonable amount of time. Apart from that it would be great.

The average crowd for the 2 GF’s at Optus is 22,000.
Depending on who plays on the day those figures could go up or down, who cares.
That average is pretty good,12k more than the South Freo GF.
Who knows when any club is going to make a GF but I tell you one thing I’d rather go to Optus than travel to Mandurah for  a GF because I can tell you now they won’t settle on one suburban ground and they’d be just itching to send it down that way at some stage.

We have a world class stadium with seating comfort and protection mostly from the elements and the WAFL GF is the big thing on the sporting calander  for the year it has to be played at Optus.

The WAFC has certainly contributed to the degradation of the WAFL with decisions made over the past years, Peel, WP moving to Joondalup when another location was better (opinion), the tragedy that was the alignment and WP bankruptcy (would not have been necessary if funding was better and assured and the level of business management was at a higher level), not allowing zonal movements to equalise clubs or at least a draft arrangement of second tier colts players, and the lit goes on!

BUT and yep it is a big (Kardashian not that I have ever watched the show) but the product is competing with the AFL, Force, and Wildcats who are just on a different level of professionalism (product presentation) and player skills and athleticism. That makes attracting crowds, sponsorship and media interest (which has improved this year) difficult and often impossible given market space.

Having the WAFL GF at a different ground is one way to inject interest into the local community business and otherwise. I think that perhaps it should be like the Super Bowl and UEFA final, decided 2 years out, This year it is at Kingsway and next Basso. Swans then have more than enough time to prepare, attract sponsors for the day etc.
