The WACA are missing a massive opportunity to become the best multisport boutique stadium in the country. They have good facilities, great lights and a central location, they just need to look at a minimum seated capacity of 20k and I'll support that (if Optus is definitely out of the equation). Ch 7 can base their cameras there and every TV game of the week is played there plus all finals so the increased capacity would be justified. The club who's home game is moved to the WACA would collect the gate receipts plus compensation for lost clubroom/bar turnover. The WACA at 10k just means it continues as an occasionally used white elephant of a facility.
For a redeveloped Freo to be the permanent Grand Final venue, I would only support that if the capacity was a min 20K, massive increase in outer seating and roof cover, otherwise it will be just like any other suburban ground thats been given a spruce up. Back in the 60's and 70's we expected nothing more than a standing room spot at Subi unless you were a WAFL member or a sponsor, so a wet GF was all part of it, but it's 2021 and we can reasonably expect to have a seat and some level of wet weather cover for the WAFL's premier event, the Grand Final.
