I thought I'd bring this up again as recent results have seen an even greater emphasis on how close it will be as the season progresses. This weekend alone we see EP defeat SF, Peel push Claremont to the limit.....plus we see a resurgent Swans and Perth getting some quality players back in the next few weeks will raise the bar even further. Some on here will keep pushing Subi's barrow but that clearly can't be supported by results . Subi were thrashed by Souths early on, just got over the line against Swans and an epic last kick victory against WP seem to have been forgotten by some. I think the make up of the top 5 will go down to the wire and the eventual premiers is anyone's guess at this stage. Should make for some exciting games heading into finals.

I know what you are trying to say BC but to be totally realistic, the only close competition that may happen before the end of the season will be the scramble for positions 3 - 5 on the ladder. As you said on the other thread Subiaco have 8 of their last 10 games at Leederville and I cannot see them dropping many, if any more games prior to the finals. They are still streets ahead of everyone else.  Subiaco have been through a tough patch with injuries and yet they are still 7 - 1. The game against Swans was only close because Swans handled the wet conditions better. That was an 8 goal margin on a dry day.
Not complaining, just stating the reality of the situation.

So let's analyse how many games Subiaco have actually lost this season.  One game from 8 and have a percentage of over 150%.  Further some Subi supporters on here have explained that the reason they didn't make the finals last year was because of their injuries that was exacerbated by the shortened season last year because of COVID-19.  Quite clearly Subi should be the overwhelming favourites to win the GF in 2021.  Claremont and South Freo are likely to finish second and third.  With West Perth, Perth and Swans fighting out for the final two positions.  Depending on the availability of Freo players for Peel they may play a part as well.

I guess time will tell but our depth in comparison to other seasons is very light on. One thing is for sure, if we lose a few key players then we'll drop right back to the pack.

Yes, same old again. Subi are not the dominant force they were in 2017-2019, but still clearly way ahead of anyone else. With players due to come back in, it's unlikely they will lose another one. Claremont are a lock for second. This weekend's fixtures will be important. If SD beat WP and EF beat P, that would leave SD on 6 wins, with WP, EF and P all on 4. That would all but secure the top 4. if, however, WP and P win, that will have SD, WP and P on 5 wins. EF will be on 3, and likely too far back to make it.

Peel are a danger team. They beat P with very few Dockers and pushed C with only 6. if the Dockers get a few players back, and Peel go in with 10 or more Dockers, on top of Bell, Hancock, Howlett, Merritt and others, they could cause some problems.

The year so far indicates to me that south will end up battling for 4th or 5th spot in the finals, with a gaggle of other also rans before Claremont take on Subi in the GF.

of the opinion nothing is set in absolute stone just yet - we'll get a better picture in the next 4 rounds as to where things might be
there are some very big fixtures coming at us all
and don't forget the lost round could be played too
