In having a close look at the WAFL League competition it has become all a bit predictable for far too long now since the advent of Fremantle & Peel in the mid 90s!
Subiaco have dominated this century whilst pretty much CL, WP & SF have been consistent finalists and winning a few flags along the way when Subi or an alignment team hasnt!
Perth as we all know havent won a Premiership since 1977 or even played in a GF since 1978.
Taking out the EP/Eagles alignment years (MkI & II) they have not won a flag since 1978 or played in a GF since 1996.
EF havent won a flag since 1998 and have only played in 1 GF since 2000.
Whilst SD have only won 1 flag (2010) and played in 1 other GF (2008) in the last 30 years.
I will not bother to include Peel/Fremantle.

Yes those clubs have to shoulder the blame for their misdoings but gee wiz how on earth have the WAFC as the overseeing body allowed this to fester for so bloody long???!!!

Whole hardheartedly agree but I reckon we are getting closer.

The wish list is just about having a WAFL where every team has a fair chance of being there in September with a GF at the best ground available.

Having the Colts run by the WAFL clubs with some reassignment of postcodes to even it up in the longer term, some clubs have older 'burbs and so less kids to attract.

Having the games on a saturday no matter when the afl circus is being played, having the colts at 0930, reserves at 1200 and league at 1445.

If we have to have a waflw then have it on a sunday, if folks want to see it they will attend and there MUST be an admission price $5 would be what I would suggest. See how many not friends and relations attend then!

I think a 24 game season is too long unless they do away with pre season games and start earlier. But I think it also puts an extra strain on WAFL clubs financially forking out salaries for another half a dozen games. I think I'm ok with 16 games makes it nice and even everyone plays each other twice and once at each ground.

Also gives clubs more time to prepare in pre season allowing for some flexibility.

Contracted players should NOT be required to be on a list for clubs to poach. The contract should override any list. The 40 list should just be to protect clubs that might be entitled to a transfer fee if a player who is not under contract from joining another club for free.

Dont mind the shoeter 1/4s , but no problem going back.

24 Game season is pretty long.

I like more games so to compensate, 15mim quarters. Get a rivalry going, as each match up will have a best of 3 element to it.

Otherwise it'll have to be 16 rounds, playing each other twice.

Potentially you could have 16 rounds plus 2, the plus 2 is against teams you're a historical rival with. So a 18 round comp.

Need to start league games at 2pm or even 1pm, have the reserves on after league.

Putting parochial self interest aside the 2021 season much like this year can go right down to the wire,as even a club like the Sharks were competitive in most games and a couple of good recruits can turn your fortunes around quite quickly as we saw with Swans,and i believe with some of this seasons encouraging crowd figures and next seasons looming tight competition its all the more reason to play the GF at Optus.

I heard that arrogant tosser Vozzo from WCE on the radio this morning saying that spreading their players around the WAFL clubs next year is definitely not acceptable to WCE. It will be either a reserves team or “some sort of alignment “ that they will agree with. It’s absolutely incredible when you come to think of it that these VIctorians like Vozzo and Simpson can just dismiss our great state competition as some sort of inconvenience to their set up. This was not what we were fed back in late 1986.

Very disappointing attitude and unfounded. It reeks of arrogance that the Eagles and Fremantle for that matter can't see the actual BENEFITS of having their players spread through the wafl. Lets take Logan Mcdonald and Alec Waterman for example, lets say WC or Fremantle managed to draft those boys, there's no way there development is going to be advanced by shifting them to WC reserves/Peel Dockers. No way. And they're playing in teams that are %100 trying to WIN, not just have a game style training session.
