By my reckoning, unless East Perth or East Fremantle can pull off an unlikely upset win this weekend, the race for the top 4 will be between 5 teams. The Doggies have already won enough games to assure themselves of finals and unless something goes horribly wrong they will finish in the top 2. That leaves 3 spots and 4 teams. There are 5 crucial contests over the next 4 rounds which will determine who makes it and where teams finish. They are
Claremont v Perth this week
Perth V Subiaco next week
Claremont v West Perth in round 8
West Perth V Subiaco and Perth V South Fremantle in round 9

I would assume that the top 5 will beat the teams below them although I guess an upset or two would make things interesting. Perth would really need to beat one of the teams above them as well as Swans in round 8 to be in the mix, it could come down to percentage at the end. My prediction
SF
C
WP
S

If Subi beats EP this week then it'll be between Subi and Perth for the 4th spot as SF, Cl and WP should win at least one or 2 more which will do the trick and EP will be too far back. Subi can only afford to drop one of the four remaining games you'd think given our crap percentage.

One would assume Subiaco to be winning this week and be sitting on 12 premiership points come 5 o'clock tomorrow. One suspecting to stay in 5th position for now. The Clmt v Perth match could go either way this week. Swans should be winning. Sadly they are too far back. And one would think a West Perth win on the cards.
Weeks 8 and 9 is going to be interesting to see what unfolds. West Perth and Claremont still have a Bye remaining too.

The three Perth teams did the damage today - two game gap to the top four now
and Swan Districts did the right one and moved up the ladder
big week coming up

If Perth defeats Subiaco then the finals is all done and dusted with 3 games to spare.

You could argue for East Perth to make it but they have to play South Fremantle and make up decent percentage to Perth.

Final top 4 South Fremantle, Claremont, West Perth, Perth.

South Fremantle v Claremont, West Perth v Perth.

Claremont v West Perth

South Fremantle v Claremont

Winners: South Fremantle with Hayden Sloithe retiring.

Claremont have an improved EF away then WP at home and a bye in the last round. There’s a chance they lose both or at least one. We have Subiaco at home then Swans away and Souths at home. We win 2 out of 3 and we get a home final against Claremont. Don’t discount us meeting you in the GF if that happens.

I know I’m getting ahead of myself but that’s a possibility. We’ve already improved from the side that lost to WP by a goal. I believe the side we had out there yesterday would have beaten WP.
Get on your bike.

Yes the win by East Perth over Subiaco has changed the whole picture. Even if Subiaco won their last 3 games they would be relying on other results to get in. Based on current form Perth and West Perth will beat them and given their near miss yesterday even the Sharks may fancy their chances. East Perth play Peel and Swans in the last 3 weeks but they would have to flog both those and also beat South Fremantle. Its looking likely that the top 4 is decided and its now just the order of the 4 teams that is up for grabs.

I'd say the top four teams are settled. Subiaco have 3 remaining matches and can't see them winning all three. Their percentage took a hit of 3.1% after last weekends result and currently 15.2% difference between 4 and 5. Even if they won all three matches and gained the 12 premiership points, they'd need big margins to boost the percentage. Then they'd be hanging on other results being kind to them.
The finishing order is going to be of interest because West Perth and Claremont still have a Bye. The final team standings probably won't be known until the final week of fixtures been completed.
