Senior Seagull wrote: Souths are a proud club and any suggestions they will tank it v Perth so Subi cant get in is very disrespectful. On what I saw last week v Perth they are suffering due to some key losses, Subi got a couple back and easily accounted for them, they were competitive and never gave up but didn't have the werewithal to match a depleted Subi team, so a near full strength South who caned us should expect a comfortable win, anything less will, be very suspicious.

Not really, it would be smart to rest a few players on the eve of the GF, we are in regardless.

final placings may not be all that bigger factor either given we've played very little footy - the players will , well should , have plenty left in the tank

regardless we have to see what unfolds this weekend there's consequence matches everywhere

50/50 possibility that it might not even be an issue - good odds there

Sadly the percentage is against Perth too because theirs took a 6½% decrease after today's fixtures. Whilst Subiaco's percentage increased by just over 9%. Not sure if my calculations being correct, Perth will need to win by about 9 goals and then hope West Perth get over Subiaco. Big incentive for West Perth to win as they could dislodge Claremont from second position on the league ladder. West Perth and Claremont percentage is approx a ¼% difference. With Claremont having the Bye next week, they will be fresh and ready for Finals action. The final qualifying round is going to be most interesting.

WAG: good post: really you would hope that we would be more desperate than WP, but you never know, I guess. The PFC are going to have to kick fifteen goals at least to win by that margin and defend well.

I reckon we might get a depleted and slightly nervous SF next week. South might put the cue in the rack. Reckon Curley will rest half a dozen top liners like Higgins and Schloithe and no player will want to get injured. Can’t be dislodged from top spot.

My team would probably still find a way to lose based on yesterday’s piss weak effort but who knows, funny how the psychology of the mind works sometimes.

So another finals series with S, SF, C and WP. Equalisation policies working beautifully.

If Perth win and Subi lose we are in regardless of percentages and winning margins..But as DD said we will find a way to stuff it up even if South rest half the team.

There are a couple of interesting sub-plots to next weeks games

1. With their win yesterday Claremont now have the inside running for 2nd spot but they have a bye next week
2. If West Perth could beat Subiaco by around 4 -5 goals they will overtake Claremont on % and thus claim 2nd place.
3. If West Perth beat Subiaco by any margin, it will bring Perth into the equation and they will know if they have a chance by the time their game starts (4.30pm) because the game at Joondalup will be almost over at that stage
4. Souths cannot be displaced from the top of the ladder so they may be in a little bit of a holding mode preparing for their 2nd semi the week after. They may be tempted to rest a few and that may open up an opportunity for the Demons

After watching what Perth served up yesterday I find it hard to believe that they could lift themselves to beat the Bulldogs but Footy is very much on the day and you never know what might happen once a team gets on a roll

LL, the template to beat Perth is easy: run. Run hard, spread, move the ball quickly and watch Perth players jogging 20m behind. When we have the ball, it's stop, look left, look right and bomb it down the line. So firstly, SF have no need to rest players because they won't get any kind pf physical game against Perth. Secondly, even if they do, provided the players they bring in are prepared to run and work hard, they will win anyway.
